My new workplace :D

For renowned Singaporean author, Mr Low Kay Hwa!

TO BE VERY HONEST,

I feel very very guilty.

I haven't been updating my blog for almost two weeks!

I really enjoy the experience of typing each post painstakingly!

The effort put into writing is immense, but the outcome is awesome!

Anyway, for the past two weeks,

I have been working as a Door to Door Sales Promoter.

I am selling books by Singaporean author Low Kay Hwa, under Goody Books Pte Ltd.

I posted my advertisement on Gumtree, and received an email from Lucas, my colleague.

After visiting the office and chatting with the author himself, I decided to take on the challenge!

Alright. But many of you would ask, WHY become a promoter?

There are tons of holiday jobs out there, ranging from Flyer Distributors, Waiters etc.

Well, I would say its the PASSION that made me become a Promoter.

I have always enjoyed talking and interacting with people, and striking up a conversation with random people.

I enjoy flashing sincere and wide smiles :DDD to my customers!

Plus, I am not working just for the sake of earning extra bucks.

I am working, to gain experience about interacting with people, and build up my confidence.

If you had read my post about SITEX, you would see how much I enjoyed promoting Laptops!

Therefore, I channeled my passion for talking and promoting to my new job!

And I simply LOVE my job!

My job is to sell books, door to door, from 6pm to 9pm.

My boss would assign a few HDB blocks for me, before I head towards my estate.

I would give brief synopses and introductions of the books and author.

It was extremely tough on Day 1. #lifesucks.

I spent $15 (KNS!?!!) on my taxi fare towards Yew Tee, and it was raining. .___.

Even though I knocked on doors and introduced myself, none expressed interest in buying the books.

At the end of the day, I was really very discouraged and disappointed.

I really really very dejected!

I realised that I have underestimated the difficulty of the job!

It seems easy to go door to door and sell books. But in reality, it is very very hard to convince people and attract their attention.

Even though my efforts proved futile on the first day, I refused to give up.

I decided to work for the second day. #whatdoesn'tkillyoumakesyoustronger

This time, I returned, to Jurong East, with stronger and more determined mentality.

I kept telling myself: "It is not going to be easy to make a breakthrough."

I clenched my fist, mustered my courage and summoned up my determination.

In the end, I sold 6 books!

Subsequently, the days got easier, though it was still very very difficult to sell books.

There were various ups and downs, which ensured that my job wasn't boring.

My passion continued to drive me forward, and get more sales.

At the end of the week, I sold 46 books, over the course of a 7 days.

Yesterday, I sold 9 books at Pioneer. One week ago when I first started, I sold zero.

I am very grateful that my hard work and patience paid off.

I would not become complacent, and I will still remain humble and realistic.

Even though I have made progress, I still constantly remind myself that it will still be tough.

All I need to do, is to continue working hard, make use of the momentum, and continue to let passion drive me through this assignment.

At this point of time, it seems that my Promoter job is tough and tiring.

I beg to differ.

My promoter job, is extremely enjoyable!!!

I got to meet may different types of Singaporeans, from various backgrounds.

Forget about being slammed at the door, when they see me.

Forget about Singaporeans refusing to open the door, despite I saw them peeping through the door hole.

Forget about knocking on so many doors, til my knuckles hurt.

Forget about customers being rude to me.

Forget about being barked (and frightened) by dogs, when knocking on the doors.

Forget about talking til my voice was hoarse.

I am very patient when it comes to all these.

What I exactly enjoy about my job is,

I get to meet people, and talk to them.

By talking to them, I get to understand more about residents, and get a chance to interact with them.

There are so many different people, with different personalities.

And there are still a lot of courteous customers, who appreciate my effort.

In addition, occasionally, I encounter people who voluntarily help me sell books!

A BIG SHOUTOUT to Lee Shao Xun from River Valley High School.

He voluntarily helped me out, as I was selling books.

This happened last Thursday, where I was working in Jurong East.

I came across this household, who was having a family gathering.

A lot of families, were gathered in the house to celebrate 冬至！

As I knocked the door, I knew that if I was going to be patient, I might get rewarded.

I might even end up selling a lot of books! #awesome

I was very very patient and persistent in my explanations, while I struck lively conversations with the 4 families in the house.

In the end, they bought four books!

Shao Xun, was one of the grandchildren in the house, and he volunteered to help me sell books!

He is a 17 year old Scout from River Valley High JC1!

So we went around selling more books, and knocking on more households.

I really appreciate his help and efforts!

I was really touched that even though we didn't know each other, he took the initiative, and offered to help!

Its really hard, because words cannot express how much gratitude that I have.

Thank you so much, Shao Xun!

It is very seldom that you see Singaporeans so willing to help others.

There you go! It is all these simple pleasures and encounters, that make my job so enjoyable!

There are some more simple, enjoyable encounters I had. I can't rmeember some o them le! =(

Thank you Mr Low a.k.a my boss, for the countless motivation and encouragement he has given me.

I am very thankful and appreciative of all the households who spent time ad effort listening to my introductions.

I am grateful, to be given a chance to make a difference in their lives! #bhb

I have gained so much experience from working, and I thoroughly enjoy it!

Everyday, Every household, Every estate, Every night is different experience altogether

And I am glad to have took up the challenge as a Door to Door Sales Promoter!

I will continue working til the end of the holidays, and perhaps in January and Feburary too! #cantwait!

Anyways, the holidays are almost coming to an end.

The year is also coming to an end.

This is the period that I dread most, because I hate and resist change.

I don't like to start things all over again, and embarking on another new journey.

Its a psychological reluctance to start the year.

Plus, I am still considering where I should go after my O Levels.

It is already hard to make a decision. I really hate myself for being so indecisive!

YES, everyone would say: "Go chase your dreams! You wanna be a radio DJ right? GO FOR IT!"

BUT NO. As much as I want to chase my dreams, I am unwilling and uncertain about giving up reality.

I still love to study the different subjects!

I have already worked so hard in Secondary School to strengthen my foundations.

If I go to Poly, wouldn't that mean my previous efforts are wasted?

REALITY, simply means going to Junior College, and then proceed to Uni to join the infamous "Paper Chase"

To do big things in life (cliché term, but you know what I mean!) , JC would be the most ideal institution.

But the pathetic thing is, I don't even know what subjects should I study in JC.

Forget about myself being hardworking and optimistic.

Even the smartest seniors struggled in H2 Maths and H2 Physics.

That is the harsh reality. You think its easy to score? Dream on!

Plus, I am still have not reached the high level of competency and proficiency.

So should I embrace the harsh reality, and work hard for my future?

Or should I escape reality, and embark on journey to chase my dreams?

That is the dilemma I am facing right now.

I am not looking forward to making that decision, but I know I can never escape from it.

Do I sound very fierce and serious? Oops.

I am stuck between Dreams and Reality.

The worst thing is, "No Parking at Anytime",

which means I have to make my decision very very soon.

FOOD!

My virgin Seoul Garden experience today!

FOOD.

Well, I'm not picky eater.

But I do pay some attention to whats on my plate!

I have to say that I have a unique preference for food.

Firstly, I dislike Fast Food! McDonalds, KFC and more....

Secondly, I love Vegetables, and I really dislike meat. Except Chicken.

Thirdly, I love eating at a coffee shop/food court, as compared to a restaurant.

These three eating habits may seem pretty normal at first.

But if you combine this habits into one, you'll get my weird preference for food!

I used to live at Blk 22 Sin Ming Avenue, back when I was 1-6 years old.

Sin Ming Avenue is located near Bishan and Thomson.

Back then, I didn't come from a well-to-do family.

My meals were usually simple and not extravagant.

Amazingly as a kid, I enjoyed my meals being modest, yet enjoyable.

I wasn't a picky eater, and I was literally fine with eating anything.

My mum even told me that since young, I had a special preference for vegetables!

Besides that, our family didn't frequent Fast Food Restaurants often.

The nearest shopping mall is Thomson Plaza, with KFC being the only Fastfood restaurant. (And I don't frequent it often. )

So naturally, since I grew up in such an environment,

I would grow up to be someone who dislikes going to Fast Food Restaurants, simply because I'm unfamiliar with them.

I would grow up to be someone who loves Economical Rice a.k.a 菜饭, especially at Coffee shops, because I had modest yet nutritious meals in the past.

I would also grow up to be someone who loves vegetables, given that the fact I loved them since young.

Back when I was 6 years old, a visit to KFC at Thomson Plaza was so rare that I decided to take a photo with now unseen Colonel Sanders statue.
And yes, you can click on the photo to enlarge and see how cute i am when I was 6 ^^

Do you know even though I'm 16 years old, I have not tried Long John Silvers, Swensens, Sakae Sushi, Ishimura, MOS Burger, Popeyes, and Pepper Lunch? And the list goes on.

I have only tried Burger King, and Wendy's ONLY once.

Most of my friends have probably been to all of them. #ikr.

Perhaps its because of my family background and eating preferences?

I really seem like some mountain tortoise!

Recently, under the peer pressure, I got a chance to try 3 new restaurants (for me at least ;P)

Subway, Carl's Juniors and Seoul Garden.

I got to try Subway, with Kay Wee, Ben Peng and Hong Da at Junction 8 after my recent 10km run.

So I told them I haven't tried Subway before.

They were like: "You serious ah? Not even once?!"

Anyway, I was really glad that they guided me on what to order!

I ended up with a 6 inch Tuna Classic, with Wheat, all vegetables, with Mustard and Sweet Onion.
Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal!

The meal was awfully nutritious, and the extra vegetables were to my liking!

The price was also pretty affordable, and I was damn full after the meal!

Subway debunked the myth in my mind, that Fast Foods are usually not nutritious!

I will definitely return for more Subs to come!

And by the way, can someone tell me what is Italian B.M.T about?
I always hear many people ordering it! #wth.

Yesterday, I got to try Carl's Junior with Jie Ying, Josiah and Jordan.

We were in town to catch Breaking Dawn, and we ended up at Carl's Juniors for dinner.

I ordered this Chicken Fillet for $8.10.

It ended up I was very impressed with the burger!

The chicken was very nicely cooked, and the burger was large!

I requested for extra Lettuce too!

The meal was satisfying, and definitely valued for money.

For $8.10, I get a big burger, with awesome chicken and tomatoes.

Its much better than say, McDonalds!

Last but not least, I got to try Seoul Garden today!

I was out with my Chinese Drama friends at Northpoint.

Initially, I was reluctant to go, because I wasn't familiar with the Seoul Garden.

Not wanting to disappoint my friends, I still went!

I decided to do some research about Seoul Garden, before going!

I googled Seoul Garden, and spent half and hour reading up more about their restaurant, their concept, and what is being offered.

The buffet style was much to my liking!

Although the price of $17.25 for each person (that could have bought me 5 bowls of Ban Mian) was a bit steep, it was very value for money!

I enjoyed the process of cooking the food through the hotplate!

From the Beef to Char Siew to the Teriyaki Chicken, it all seemed like a barbeque session!

Quite a lot of meat varieties were being offered.

There were also quite a lot of yummy vegetables on offer!

The freeflow of drinks, and icecream! #awesome!

A big shoutout to You Wai, Guo Dong and Ryan, for teaching me how to cook the meat!

I really don't have much idea initially about how to cook!

A big shoutout to Byolind too! For taking so much vegetables to fulfill my craving! Brocollis ftw!

It was really a great experience hanging out with all my Chinese Drama counterparts!

Guan Hoe, Chee Wei, Qi Wen, Kai Lin, Jing Hui, Ryan, Guo Dong, You Wai and Byolind!

My virgin Seoul Garden experience was an super enjoyable one!

My favourite Qiu Lian Ban Mian!

I must eat it at least once a week ^^

Alright. Enough of talking about Fast Foods.

I already feel so guilty about trying out so much new stuff!

I still very much enjoy my humble Hawker Centre food!

I LOVE CHICKEN RICE, from Old Bugis Street, located at Bishan!

I LOVE CHICKEN RICE, from Blk 923 Yishun Central! And I know my drama mates love it too!

I LOVE QIU LIAN BAN MIAN, from Northpoint's Food Junction!

I LOVE NASI LEMAK, from Chong PAng Nasi Lemak, Sembawang Road.

Those all my regular absolute favourites.

My meals usually revolve around Economical Rice a.k.a 菜饭, Vegetarian Fried Rice (with extra vegetables!), Vegetarian Brown Rice, Tze Char Fried Rice/Hor Fun, Chicken/Roasted Char Siew/Duck Rice and Mee Pok/Mee Kia.

Its pretty boring for some, but this is what I enjoy eating!

No matter how much other kinds of food I am exposed to, ultimately, I would still have my modest meals at the Hawker Centre/Food Courts.

I will still enjoy my regular fix of added vegetables in my diet.

Do you think in terms of food, I'm kinda like a true blue Singaporean?

I'm super loyal to my Hawker Centre culture!

However, occasionally, I will still patronize Fast Food/Western restaurants!

I love Singapore's Unique Food Culture!

Hmmmm. So I eat to live, or do I live to eat?

Good question. Even I myself have no idea.

Does this sight bother you?

Smoking.

Back when I was a kid, I remembered what my Mum said:
"I hope you will never smoke, drink, or gamble in future".

Til today, I still stand by this principle.

I remembered when I was Primary 5, I was intrigued by smokers.

At one time, I even imitated the gestures of smoking.

I was like making a "Peace" sign on my left hand, and holding it to my mouth.

I even mimicked the action of throwing the cigarette on the floor, and stamping it.

I guess I was being very inquisitive, innocent and childish, back then.

Thank god I did not mix with bad company, and try out cigarettes.

Now, as a mature 16 year old, I'm beginning to ponder about why exactly do people smoke.

"How do they smoke? " I asked myself.

"How does it feel to smoke?" I wanted to know what kind of feeling.

"Why do people smoke?" I wanted to find out more.

I still remember asking Guan Hoe: "How do they smoke ah?"

He said: "Suck it, and breathe in normally".

After mixing around with my SITEX promoters that smoked, and hearing about how some teenagers get into smoking, I'm here to provide a neutral viewpoint on why no one should try smoking.

Personally, I do not smoke.

Neither do my parents smoke.

Almost none of my friends smoke.

If you are now wondering then why I am so against smoking, I will say I'm concerned.

My point, is that

"SINCE ALMOST EVERY SMOKER KNOWS IT IS HARMFUL TO SMOKE, THEN WHY EMBARK ON A JOURNEY OF SELF DESTRUCTION? "

On each and everyone of the cigarette boxes, lies of warning picture.

Every smoker is bound to see those gory images of the consequences of smoking.

In Singapore, our government does not encourage smoking.

The exorbidant prices of each pack of cigarette, the strict restrictions about where to smoke, so on and so forth.

Plus, there is a social stigma in the society, that does not encourage smoking.

Honestly, who will want to be a victim of second hand smoke?

YES, perhaps colleagues or gang members, of smokers might also smoke?

But are these smokers, smoking, just for the sake of their friends?

Think about the rhetorical questions that I am asking smokers:

ARE THEY EVER SELF CONSCIOUS?

DO THEY EVER SIT DOWN AND REFLECT, ON WHY SMOKING IS HARMFUL?

IF THE HABIT BEYOND THEIR CONTROL, ARE THEY WILLING TO MAKE SACRIFICES?

DO THEY BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES, THAT THEY CAN QUIT?

I do not come from a government agency.

Neither do I come from Nicorette, a company that makes gums for people to quit smoking.

I am a 16 year old student.

I'm not aware, about why exactly people smoke, simply because I am not one.

I'm not aware, about the difficulties different smokers face quitting.

However, I am aware of the consequences of smoking.

In addition, I am also aware of how difficult it is to quit a habit, be it smoking or gambling, because I myself face a problem quitting a nasty, morally incorrect habit.

Through writing this, I am expressing my concern for people who smoke.

I am really disgusted and irritated by people who smoke.

The fumes each cigarette produces, is ridiculosuly unbearable.

Sometimes, perhaps because of my height, their cigarette smoke blown out, is blown straight into my face. No matter how I try to run away, I still breathe in second hand smoke.

Besides that, irresponsible smokers throw finished cigarettes on the floor, stamping them.

It is an complete eyesore, to see our streets littered with flattened pieces of junk.

Last but not least, each cigarette contains thousands of harmful chemicals.

I did some research, and these are the hard truths of smoking:

"Based on medical studies, it is said that smoking can cause your blood pressure level to increase by 5 to 10 mm Hg during the day. Nicotine, together with cholesterol and other fat deposits, contribute to the hardening of the arteries, which develops through the years, poor blood circulation and blood clots lead to high blood pressure, stroke, and heart attacks. 30% of fatal heart diseases, are linked to smoking. "

A picture speaks a thousand words.

"Cigarettes are said to contain 4000 chemical compounds and 400 toxic substances, with Nicotine, Carbon Monoxide, Tar being the main damaging products. "

These include: Ammonia, Arsenic (WTF used in rat poison), DDT(posionous insecticide, bio students know this best!), Formaldehiyde (Used to preserve dead specimens), Fungicides and pesticides.

This is more than enough to turn me off.

So there you have it.

Its not that I have anything against smokers.

But I am really concerned about their health and well being.

Honestly, everytime I see a teenager light up a cigarette, my heart aches.

Its like very disheartening and painful to see quite a lot of Singaporeans smoke.

As I said, I always wonder why people aren't self consious, even though they know smoking is harmful?

I know its hard, but if there's a will, there is a way.

Look, I am not condemning smokers here.

But I just want to remind them, that quitting smoking isn't impossible.

There are lot of ways and avenues that offer help.

So if you're a smoker, and you're looking at this,

I sincerely hope you'll reflect, and think about what can be done.

I am not a trained professional, so I will not offer any advice here.

But all I can say is, if you work hard and try your best, you will eventually succeed.

Smoking is not beneficial for your body! Stop destroying yourself!

6 Challenge 2007!

6 Challenge 2007. Admiralty Primary School.

Our "formal shot" at Class Chalet + BBQ!

CLASS CHALET?!!!! #whatthehell.

Well, those who know me well would know that I don't like attending chalets.

I find them pointless. Yes I'm that straightforward.

You might say that it is a great opportunity for friends to get together, and chill out.

BUT, I simply dislike what is done during chalets.

Instead of having bonding activities that fosters the class spirit,

Everyone simply goes into their cliques, and engage in their own activities.

This makes you wonder, is it a CLIQUE chalet or CLASS chalet?

Well, I'm being utterly biased here. But its true.

Plus, I don't like majong, poker and other gambling stuff.

Neither do I know how to swim well, or sing well.

So its kind of pointless for me to go right? Well, I shall stop procrastinating.

I even decided to give my recent CCHY 2D'09 Chalet a miss. I shouldn't force myself to go, or I'll not enjoy it.

After much consideration, I decided to attend the ADMPS 6 Challenge Class Chalet yesterday.

YES, I don't like chalets. But, I decided to go, just to mingle around with Primary 6 classmates.

I still keep in touch with some, while I've lost contact with some after 4 years.

The Class Chalet allows me to reunite with my friends, and see whats happening in their lives!

The Chalet itself was at Aloha Loyang.

The girls were complaining how long we had to walk. #complainqueens.

Well, I spent time in the afternoon playing Basketball and Soccer with my 6 Challenge mates!

Jun Quan, David, Raymond, Pei Cun, David, Yi Ming, Zhi Rong and Alvin!

The matches were super fun and awesome!

It was so engaging, and I felt as if we were teleported 4 years back!

There wasn't any awkward moments, and everyone was enjoying themselves!

Even though I wasn't very good in Soccer/Basketball, I really enjoyed myself thoroughly!

Thank you and great job guys!

The evening was spent on BBQ!

The guys took 45 mins to start a succesful fire at the barbeque pit.

The girls were like watching TV in the chalet, and complaining about our inefficiency!

Well, the food was awesome! #hellyeah

Zhe Liang, Me and the others were helping out with the food!

Don't ask me why, but I enjoyed spreading butter on the food. #weirdfetish.

The chicken wings, sausages and satay tasted damn delicious.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos. =(

Anyway, did I mention how mouth watering the Nuggets tasted?

The girls didn't know how to fry it, so I and Zhi Rong decided to try Barbequeing it!

And guess what, it tasted just as great! #awesome.

We spent some light hearted moments together after the BBQ, before we took class photos, and went home!

The hysterical laughs, the "Awwwww" moments, the sincere smiles!

Its funny how Pei Cun still remembers so much gossip and funny things in 6 Challenge!

He still remembers how everyone behaves in the past, who liked who and the weird things our teachers would do #respect!

As we look back at all these fond memories, everything seems like a joke!

As the saying goes: "Ten years later, this would all be a joke"! So true!

Its amazing how 4 years have passed by so quickly!

Everyone has changed a bit, but some parts of our hearts still belong to Admiralty Primary!

Well, the Chalet brought us together, as we spent time reminiscing what happened 4 years ago.

Although everyone was still hanging out with their own cliques, and it was awkward to mix around, the Chalet still allowed us to get together!

It wasn't that awesome, but I'm sure pretty much everyone had a great time!

A big shoutout to Yi Ming, for organizing this Get Together session, and booking the Chalet.

Zhe Liang (clique mate!), Qi Wei (good pal!), David (ex love rival, who grew extremely tall!), Pei Cun (still as fat ;p), Raymond (still the same!), Jun Quan, Zhi Rong, Alvin, Amira (taller than me?!), Fatin, Sri, Jing Yi, Shannon(who seemed emo), Mindy, Isabelle, Hui Ping (still as bubbly!) and Jia En (she was lost and I voluntarily fetched her from Escape to Aloha at 10pm yesterday! I'm such a kind soul!) .

I look forward to more such chalets, when all of us have the time!

I wish all my 6 Challenge friends the best in their future endeavours!

Its almost the end of November. Can you believe how fast time past?

The beginning of this month, we were still fighting the battle.

The battle against the O Levels!

I'm proud to say that we have conquered and survived! Good job everyone!

So after the Os, we will have 2 months of break, before we collect our results.

Many of my friends decided to look for holiday jobs.

So I decided to look for one too! To earn some extra bucks, gain experience.

Most were working as admin staffs, or as waiter/waitresses.

Hmmm so I painstakingly typed my advertisement, and posted it on Gumtree.#likeaboss

To my utmost delight, I received a reply two days later, offering me a job at SITEX.

My job was to promote Samsung laptops.

After much consideration, I accepted it right away!

A special shoutout to Hong Da and Guan Hoe!

Thank you sooooo much for accompanying me to work at SITEX!

DAY 1 was really tough.

The day seemed to past by so slowly.

The hours seemed extremely long, and the crowd was sparse.

To make matters worst, I wasn't familiar with some of the laptops.

It was hard to promote with confidence!

It was just painful and miserable. #lifesucks

I knew I had to press on, and persevere. No matter what happens, I will NOT give up.

"Determination and hard work is the key to succeess". I'm glad I stood by this!

Luckily I had a bunch of cool booth mates to spur me on.

A big shoutout to all my booth mates!

All of 7 them guys were from Nan Chiau High School.

To top it all off, they were like 17 or 18years old, and all much bigger sized than me.

But I'm glad that they made friends with me, and we worked together well!

A gigantic shoutout to Darius, Nick Chng, Nick Foo, Jun He, Tak Sin, and Ze Hao.

Thank you for all your encouragement and motivation!

It was a great fun working with you guys!

Day 2, 3 and 4 got progressively easier.

As I got used to standing for 8 hours, I was no longer suffering from knee pains.

I had already gotten used to the standing, and I was much much more eager to promote.

I greeted every potential customer with "Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Sir/Mdm"

And I asked if they were interested in getting a laptop.

Sometimes I would throw in a "Have A Nice Day" or "Have fun shopping!" =))

Just by this action, I got to see the different sides of Singaporeans!

The courteous ones, would slow down their footsteps, and smile back =), before thanking me.

The friendly ones, would say "No thank you", no matter how busy they were.

The passionate ones, would stop, and offer me a pat on my back, before thanking me!

The super passionate ones, especially Indians (no racial prejudice involved ;P) , would pat my waist, and give me a sincere reply.

The unfriendly ones, would simply ignore my presence, or pretend to look away. KNS!

Some gave me cold hard stares, while others appreciated my sincerity.

In conclusion, it was a really awesome experience interacting with Singaporeans.

No matter what kind of reaction they gave me, it was still an enjoyable experience for me.

I still enjoy greeting them, and talking to them! Haha Shi Nan is like that de la!

The funny thing is, some customers were curious of my background.

A few customers asked me how much commission would I get from the sales of each laptop.

A few asked how old I was. Obviously they didn't believe I was 16.

A few shook my hand, and thanked me for my efforts.

There was one particular customer, who asked if I was a Malaysian.

Well, my answer was NO. LOL

I developed a Malaysian Chinese accent, because 2 of my bosses, and 1 promoter were Malaysians.

So naturally I began to talk in some Malaysian Chinese accent after Day 3.

“先生啊，这真的是一个很好的价钱啦。” 什么东西都有斜音！

In the end, I sold 3 on Day 1, 9 on Day 2, 13 on Day 3 and 21 on Day 4.

Not bad right? LOL #bhb.

I sincerely thank all who made purchases from me!

I worked hard, and I showed improvement in my sales.

I was undeterred by the tough circumstances, and I eventually succeeded.

The sense of satisfaction while writing each Confirmation Order, was immensely great.

Through this 4 days, I have learnt quite a lot!

Its was really an eye opening experience, to interact with different people, and doing my best to convince them.

Besides learning how Singaporeans react to Promoters, I've also learnt how to express myself.

My body language, the way I talk, the way people react, and how people think.

It was immensely enjoyable experience to communicate with each and every customer!

And I'm really thankful to be given this opportunity.

Perhaps I will become a Promoter next time when I grow up?

I would definitely love working in the Service/Tourism/Hospitality industry!

Plus, my patience and unfading optimism will guide me through.

Forget about the hours taking MRT/858 from Expo back to Yishun.

Forget about Guan Hoe and I engaging in interesting conversations to/fro work.

Forget about my endless asking of people, if they were interested in buying a laptop/

Forget about the cold stares that I get from irritated strangers.

Forget about standing continuously from 10am to 10pm.

Forget about the sores in my foot and knee. ouch.

Forget about myself having Lunch at 4pm, Dinner at 9pm, just to get more sales.

Forget about my Boss complaining about our booth's low sales. #tak boleh tahan.

I still pretty enjoyed my job, promoting Samsung Laptops.

If I have another a chance, I would gladly take it up again as a holiday job.

It was my first job, and I'm proud to have enjoyed it so much! :DDDDD

AWESOME BEYOND REDEMPTION!

Well, its time for me to go.

I'm under the weather right now, and suffering from a massive FLU attack.

I just keep sneezing and my nose is running like a broken tap.

I've seen the doctor yesterday, with same old flu medicine prescribed to me.

Hopefully I'll get well soon enough.

I have a 10KM Run this Sunday, for the Standard Chartered Marthon Singapore.

Looking forward to it, though I haven't being training much, due to the O Levels.

Graduation Night.

CCHY 2D'2009. 爱我2D，力争上游！

I will always remember the good times we've spent together.

Our class spirit is stronger than ionic bonds.

<3 you guys!

Graduation Night was yesterday.

Had a super great time hanging out with all my friends in CCHY.

It was certainly a great night to be remembered.

There were so many light-hearted moments, that made me feel so emotional. "Awwww..."

It was a definitely a great finale to my 4 years in Chung Cheng! =)

Thank you to all my friends from 1D/2D/3F/4F for making my school life so worthwhile.

I truly treasure each piece of friendship that I have with you guys.

As we close the chapter in secondary school, and embark on a brand new journey,

I will still remember everyone single one of you, and the awesome memories that we've shared together.

The good times, the bad times, and the challenges that we've overcame together.

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Before the ceremony part started!

The Graduation Night experience was an eye opener!

Firstly, I saw many friends, transform from plain jane schoolmates, to attractive mature individuals!

All of my guy friends looked super cool! Oh did I mention, almost all of them looked like they were going to be married?

LOL! everyone was decked in suits and ties! Awesome!

The girls deserved a mention as well!

All of them transformed in beautiful (some sexy ;P) ladies.

I can see that they really spent a lot of time dolling themselves up.

Especially when you take a look at their dresses, heels (some pretty high ones too.)and pretty cool make-up. Although some had make up that looked hideous. #Likea7monthghost.

Some girls, who were usually shorter than me, turned out taller than me in their heels!

Kudos to Pei Ying and Duan Feng for winning the Best Dressed Female and Male Awards!

And Yun Qian and Ce Yong, for being the Prom King/Queen!

I also voted for Yun Qian for Prom Queen! Those black stockings ruled it!

Alright. Besides the attractive outfits, I enjoyed the Class Tribute performances too!

And boy, I didn't know so many of our classmates are so damn talented!

We were greeted by sleek dance moves from 4D and 4F and 4G!

My class, 4F came up with 3 great performances! YES! 3!

We had Yi Ze, Steven, Wei Ming and Duan Feng, performing Iridescent, by Linkin Park. Beautiful song, with meaningful lyrics! AWESOMMMMEEE!

We had Nasuha, Yi Ze and Timothy, belting out Sam Tsui's Pop Medley 2011! #ABR!

Lastly, we had the awesome dance moves, from many of my 4F classmates!

Everyone was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed the performances!

The 4F/4G/4E/4D gang! Dancing to Super Junior infectious tune, Sorry Sorry.

Last but not least, it was the Dance segment of the night.

The organizers actually hired a professional DJ, to spin live for the students!

The entire dancefloor was flooded, complete with fog sprayers and LED roving lights!

WOW! Its like sneak peek into nightlife in future, when we can enter clubs at 18!

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy myself. #sighsighsigh.

I simply wasn't high enough.

Yeah, I tried to join in the dancefloor, and jump to my favourite hits being played!

But I just didn't enjoy it. Perhaps its really not for me. .____.

Probably I still not used to such nightlife, and partying up.

Maybe I will next time. At least I will try getting high. #sadlife.

Well, at LEAST I enjoyed the music being played by the DJ!

As a pop music lover, I enjoyed hits played by Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, LMFAO, Enrique Igelsias and more! #wigglewigglewigglewigglewiggleyeah.

Did anyone enjoy the fog sprayers? I couldn't see anything!

Reminds me of our Chinese Drama SYF Gold With Honours Showcase at SOTA. ^^

Well, that about sums it up for Grad Night.

I was so emotional at the end of the night, that I really couldn't bear to leave the hall.

While everyone was hanging out with their friends, I decided to help out.

I stacked up the chairs, and started to help cleaning up the hall.

Some of the SC Juniors even thanked me for my help!

Perhaps I really wanted to contribute to the school for one last time?

A little effort, goes a long way right?

I still love Chung Cheng, and I always will =)

I still remember I was pretty much against the idea of having a Graduation Night a few months back.

I hated the glitz, glamour and formality of the event.

I almost wanted to boycott it, because I hated to socialize with friends.

But I decided to convince myself that I should go.

After all, we're supposed to live life without regrets right?

I don't want to regret not going, just because I will miss out all the fun with my classmates.

Life still has to go on.

I'm sure there will be many more such formal events in future.

I guess I'll gain more experience, and soon get to appreciate life =)

Do I sound emotional? Hmmmm sometimes I really think too much hor.

I'm glad that Graduation Night is over.

While I did not enjoy it thoroughly, it was deifnitely an AWESOME and memorable night that I spent with my all awesome friends, schoolmates and teachers. :DDDD

Well, I'll take time during this holidays to reflect and relax myself.

I seem too serious minded, conservative, and traditional. #damnit.

Its over. The epic war has been fought.

This is the aftermath in my bedroom.

All my studying materials and books piled together =)

Time really flies. Yes, 2 years, just like that!

It really touches my heart, to see how much I've gone through for these 2 years.

I will dedicate a post solely to reminisce-ing what I've been through these 2 years.

It was really hard fighting through my O Levels.

I will never forget being mocked by the 3 endless weeks of Mock Exams. Get the wordplay?

I will never forget running around frantically, just for consultations with the teachers.

I will never forget, using up 1 Post it a day, to plan what I am going to do for the next day.

I will never forget, studying and mugging really hard for the 2 weeks study leave.

I did my best. Everything is now over. I can't rewrite what has been done. Can't believe it.

All the hard work has been translated to awesome memories.

And my O Level results, will be a testimony to my hark work and determination.

I have to admit, I was never a bright student. Honestly.

I work very very hard, just to excel in my studies.

I believe that "Hard work is the key to success".

After all, as what Thomas Edison said:

"Genius is 1% inspiration, and 99% determination".

Yes, I was good. But I pale in comparison to others.

I've usually did well, but not well enough to top the class, or to defeat the best.

Now my fingers are crossed. X.X

As I enjoy this well deserved 2 months break.

Afterwhich, I hope to the best result slip that I've received for my whole life - my O Levels.

I believe in myself. And I hope all my hard work will not be put to waste.

Anyway, I had an awesome day yesterday!

I was hanging out with my awesome bestie, You Wai and Sean. Plus, my cute junior, Zhao Xian.

We went to the Titanic exhibition and hung out at Marina Bay Sands!

After-that, we headed to *SCAPE, where we checked out 987FM! :DDDD

We took the Circle Line down to Promenade, where we had our lunch at Millenia Walk.

I had 小碗面. This epic noodle auntie called every customer "shuai ge!".

Anyways, the noodles tasted not bad, and the atomosphere was awesome!

HAHA. I still can't get enough of my food court/hawker centre food.

They may not be as expensive as food from posh restaurants, but they taste just as great!

My favourites include Qiu Lian Ban Mian (from Northpoint), Nasi Lemak (all places, especially Chong Pang's), Minced Pork Noodles (especially Mee Pok), Hokkien Mee and Vegetarian Economical Rice.

And oh did I mention, I love vegetarian brown rice! :DDD

After lunch, we walked to Marina Bay Sands, Arts and Science Musuem.

All of us had previously agreed to attend the Titanic, The Artifact Exhibition.

As we made our way there through Millenia Walk , guess who we saw?

Daniel Ong! Does he ring a bell to you?

YES! He hosted AM JAM (with Young and Van), The Dan and Young Show on 987FM back in 2010.

He was 987FM's "boss", and was in the radio industry for almost a decade!

Later, he quitted, to take care off his new addition to his family.

In addition, he briefly returned to radio in June, to host "The WrONG Way Home", on 91.3FM.

Today, he is a successful business entrepreneur/owner of Twelve Cupcakes!

Twelve cupcakes is set up by himself, and his wife Jamie Teo.

So as enthusiastic as I was, I ~~shamelessly~~ happily went to ask for a photograph.

We briefly chatted, and it was really awesome to meet him personally! =)

Did I mention he is one of my favourite personalities on 987FM?

Afterwhich, we headed to the Titanic Exhibition at Marina Bay Sands Arts and Science museum.

What a beautiful piece of architecture! It resembles a lotus, with 10 fingers!

Kudos to the designers and engineers. Very very nice structure.

So we spent about 1h in the exhibition.

I really impressed with the exhibits.

The recreations of the Titanic, including Grand Staircase, the Iceberg and Promenade Deck (Y) are also showcased on the exhibition itself.

Although I have not watched the movie, I have watched a documentary depicting the cause of the Titanic disaster.

Some of the stories and pictures that I chanced upon in the exhibition., left a lasting impression on me.

After the exhibits, I was really convinced to actually hunt for the James Cameron directed "Titanic".

Pretty interesting stuff! If you haven't went to "Titanic, The Artifact Exhibition", what are you waiting for? It runs til 29th April 2012, with tickets priced at $21.

TITANIC: THE ARTIFACT EXHIBITION.

After the exhibition, we took a walk down "Shoppes At Marina Bay"! its a damn big place!

Boy, was it awesome! Its like Vivocity, a great place to shop and hang out!

This is my first visit to the Integrated Resorts, and I was certainly impressed.

Although there were many posh boutiques there, like LV and Raoul, the ability to hang out at these high class places, gives me a simple sense of achievement. Dont ask why. #justsaying.

Anyway, we hung out at *Scape later, when we waited for 45 mins, outside the 987FM studios.

987FM had the honor of broadcasting live from *Scape, at the start of this year.

In line with their 21st birthday, the new studio at *Scape allows listeners to look through the glass window, and take a look at what their favourite DJs are doing!

Pretty cool stuff I must say!

Well, as you might have known by now, my dream is to become a Radio DJ at 987FM.

The visit to the studio yesterday, was the first for me!

And it was a memorable experience checking out the Muttons.

We even had a chance to grab some photos with them. #Another reason why I'm shameless.

It was really cool, to meet Justin Ang and Vernon A in person!

I can still remember when I was in Sec 1 and Sec 2, where I would faithfully listen to Muttons To Midnight, from 8pm all the way to midnight. (And I really mean faithfully!)

I would bring my phone all around, just to listen to them.

I listen to them when I'm in bed, between 11pm to Midnight.

No matter how tired I am, I would just continue listening, before Soo comes in for Pillowfight.

And only once they've finished the show at midnight, then I would go to sleep.

Sometimes, I would even fall asleep while waiting for the show to end. #guiltyascharged.

Muttons To Midnight, is the only reason why I would sacrifice my precious sleep.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan the current 8-12am show, Say It With Music.

Divian and Jacqui doesn't have that aura!

But at least Divian and Jacqui are trying hard, to atrract as much listeners as possible.

And I can sense their sincerity and determination to bring a good show to us!

Now you know how BIGGGGGG a radio fan I am. Yes. Bigger than Moses Lim. #damnit.

The way they talk, the way they push the buttons, and their body language simply captivates me.

10 years later, hopefully, I will have a chance to be on 987FM.

I'm still trying my best, to work towards it.

Music is a huge part of my life, and the ability to talk on air, would be what I wanna do.

987FM, wait for me! I may not be the best person to be on air, but I'm willing to do my best.

This holidays, I will sharpen my skills. And I'll try creating a podcast blog. We'll see luh.

Anyway, thank to You Wai, Zhao Xian and Sean for spending that wonderful afternoon with me!

I really sincerely appreciate the company of you guys.

And thank you for making me part of you guys!

Workers Party Rally! (1/5/2011), GE2011

WORKERS PARTY RALLY! NEE SOON GRC that I attended :D

I'm back.
Well, as an student, I don't not have a chance to vote, till 5 years later.
However, i am still very poilticaly involved, like Sean, and read the Stratits Times everyday.
For General Election 2011 news.
Honestly, I'm a pro PAP.
But I still attended the Workers Party rally last Saturday, on Labour Day.
The Workers Party would be contesting for the Nee Soon GRC,
with 5 candidates.
John Yam, Poh Lee Guan, Angela Oon, Watson Chong, and one Indian candidate.
They will be up against K Shanmugam, Er Lee Bee Wah, Lim Wee Kiat, Patrick Tay and Dr Faishal Imbrahim.

I attended the rally.
To get a feel of what the opposition, specially the Worker's Party is like,
and of course,
To catch a glimpse of Mr Low Thia Kiang, and Ms Sylvia Lim.
I must say, the candidates of the Nee Soon GRC, offered by the Worker’s Party,
Are of very high caliber.
However, I feel they lack experience.

SUPER ENTHU FANS (:

The Worker’s Party kicked of the rally, with an experienced WP member.
Who was with the Party since the days of David Marshall.
His hokkien speech was very uninteractive.
And couldn’t reach out to the minority voters, as well as the younger voters.
After which, it was Faisal, a candidate from Aljunied GRC, trying to woo Malay voters.
Before the WP Nee Soon GRC candidates had a chance to speak,
Lee Li Lian(Punggol East) of the Workers Party, spoke about various national issues,
And generally impressed me with her vocal articultation.

After the 3 WP candidiates,
The candidiates of Nee Soon GRC, offered by the Workers Party, spoke their various speeches.
I must say, 4 out of the 5 candidates, by the WP showed the lack of experience in their speeches.
YES, they know how to keep the crowd going.
YES, they know how to entertain the crowd.
YES, they know how to blatantly criticize the government.
BUT, all of them lacked experience.
And was speaking about te same national issues.
Like the high cost of living, high cost of housing, poor transport system, CPF, government policies blah blah blah.
All of them failed to impress me.
Only Dr Poh Lee Guan, impressed me with his maturity, and his Point Of View.
Angela Oon is also a candidate with potential.
They keep saying: “ We can Do better!”
They keep saying: “ Vote Workers Party, for change.”
They keep saying: “ Vote Workers Party, so that Singapore has a better future”.
But are they saying this, just for the sake of saying?

The only interesting parts of the Rally, was the last hour of the Rally.
It was when Mr Low Thia Kiang arrived, when the crowd cheered super super loudly!
Both him and Sylvia Lim delivered their speeches.

MS SYLVIA LIM :D

They are the two speakers of the rally, that spoke with maturity, and a lot of sense.
I used to see Mr Low Thia Kiang, as someone who is very proud, and only know how to criticize.
But in fact, he is a great leader, and speaks with a lot of confidence!
Ms Sylvia Lim, was the feline equivalent of him.
Both of the them ate very formidable and worthy opponents!
Although I am a pro PAP fan, I understand why Aljunied residents are probably in a dilemma, on who to vote.
Whatever so, I sincerely hope George Yeo, and his PAP team will win.
Although the Worker’s Party “A” team is very credible as well.

At the end of the rally,
I bought myself a Worker’s Party flag for just $2.
The rally has made me realized the importance of having an opposition in government.
Whatever so, the PAP government still boasts a track record, Singapore has done well.
Yeah, there were plenty of hiccups here and there.
And there were a few controversial policies.
BUT, Singapore would not be what it is today, without the PAP.
Our education, healthcare, transport system is one of the best in the world.
And the PAP deserves full credit.

The Opposition can provide checks and balances.
BUT, they lack experience, and will not be able to govern Singapore.

We should only give the BEST opposition candidates a chance.
Like Mr Low Thia Kiang, Sylvia Lim, Jeanetter Chong Aruldross, Steve Chia, Hazel Poa, Sebastian Teo etc.
We should not vote the opposition, just because we dislike the PAP government.
The social issues faced by Singapore is a complicated matter,
And there are problems to iron out.
Voters should not be blinded and misleaded by the “First World Parliament”.
The term “Provide checks and balances” is too loosely used.
And the Opposition usually ONLY know how to criticize.
And make empty promises, just to get into parliament.
Do not think that all opposition parties are good!
I trust the PAP government, that they have the quality, experience and ability to do the job.

I urge the 2 million plus voters out in Singapore.
Only vote for a CREDIBLE and BEST opposition.

Not just for the sake of alternative voices.
DO NOT waste your vote.
VOTE PAP for a better future. Undilah PAP!

I anticipate GE2011 to be one of the hottest and most memorable.
As an student election analyst since 2006, I predict that, the opposition will have a very good showing, especially for the Workers Party, and some of NSP.
BUT, the PAP will still win the majority, and lead us, for a better life, for the next 5 years.
We shall see, on May 7th 2011.

PS: I support Tin Pei Ling, not Nicole Seah.

My Dreams (Chong Pang's Next Top Speaker)

This is my speech, for the Chong Pang's Next Top Speaker.

I did not make it through to the Finals.

I have a dream today!
“ I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted,

DO not be alarmed my friends. My speech is not inspired by the coming general elections. I just wanted to emphasize that there is a similarity between the common student like me and the great freedom fighter Mr Martin Luther King. You might be wondering what that similarity might possibly be. Albeit, it’s a small similarity but a similarity none the less, I have dreams too and I must say I am pretty good at my dreams as well.

Dreams. Think about it. I believe that everyone has dreams. Some people dream to be a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher or even a successful entrepreneur”. Let me give you a clue to what my dream is. Ever heard of Justin Ang? Rod Monteiro? The Flying Dutchman??? Yes, you guessed it right! Well, my dream is to become a radio Deejay.

Since Primary 5, well, it’s had always been my dream, to become a SUCCESSFUL Radio deejay in Singapore. It all started out when I was Primary 4, when my parents bought me a 2nd hand radio set from a resale merchandise shop. Since then, I began to listen to different radio stations, and got myself exposed to different genres of music like pop, rap, hip hop and even classical. Thereafter, I was fascinated with how the DJs spoke on air with so much confidence and oomph! HOW interesting would be to become a DJ!

Besides being fascinated by how the DJs talk, I am also an ardent music lover. I listen to a lot of mainstream music. Imagine doing something you enjoy doing without having your parents nag about it. I enjoy the experience, where the Deejays interact with their audience, oblige their song requests and dedications, and chat with them on air, like a long lost friend. I also believe that the radio is a strong tool to influence people positively. And now I want to be the voice that everyone looks forward to hearing everyday!

I believe that every one of you out there, has a dream, and have started taking steps to achieve it. Well, it’s the same thing for me. As I became older, I realized that dreams are meant to be achieved. I told myself to stop daydreaming! Aspirations have to be fulfilled if I ever truly want a shot of enjoying what I do for a living. Therefore, my first baby step was to consult and pester my teachers for advice. I pounced on every public speaking opportunity in school, regardless whether it was for an announcement or being an emcee. Slowly but gradually, I became more confident, and gained self esteem. I attempted producing my own podcasts, and a lot of my friends appreciated it, and encouraged me to continue.

I even tried impersonating radio personalities. I’m sure some of you in the audience know who Jean Danker on Cartunes, from Class95FM? Yes, I admire how she speaks on air! Other than that, I began reading and writing more frequently, to improve my command of English. I mean, hey, you wouldn't want a deejay that goes "BOOMZ" or "Don't pray pray ah." on air right?

Jokes aside. Well, all I have to say is, Dreams might be hard to achieve and there will definitely be a lot of difficulties that I would face, but I will persevere. I’ve finally found my passion for Radio. I will work towards it, with lots of courage and determination. Being a Radio DJ has been my ambition since I was young, and as I face the difficulties in life, I would only see myself getting closer to becoming what I really want to be.

Before I end of my speech, I would like to share with you a quote by American Cartoonist, Walt Disney:
“All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them. If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that Disney was started with a dream and a drawing of a Mouse.” Walt Disney, then went on to create the world's most famous fictional character, Mickey Mouse, and then founded the Walt Disney company.

Ladies and gentleman, I might be an ordinary 16 year old secondary school student, But, I have a dream, and I would certainly want to realize it. Therefore, I hope that by sharing my story, I would encourage all those who have found their passion in life, to work towards their dream. For those who have not found their passion in life, always keep a lookout for it. Once you have found your life direction, go ahead and achieve it. I am prepared to go beyond my limits, and do whatever it takes to achieve my dream and ambition. Now… are you ready to wake up and achieve yours?

Chong Pang's Next top Speaker Competition!

Its over. Finally.

It all happened so quickly.
In the previous posts of my blog,
I've been expressing how enthusiastic about me, being able to take part in a public speaking competition.
Before I talk about my experience at the competition,
I would like to thank a few people!

ViviAn Chueh! We have been working very closely together during the competition. She was the one who kept encouraging me, and we really work very hard together, to get into the finals! I began to know more about her! Hopefully we can work together again!
Jasper, Natalie, Sarah, Yi An and Sean! For encouraging me to go for the competition!
Mdm Priya, Ms Ambiga and Mr Chua KY They give me very good comments, and I thank them for their patience in training me, throughout the competition period!
Last but not least, Ian, Sean, Natalie, Sean, Yi An, Wei Zhuang, Ms Susanna Lau for their help rendered in my script!

Well, I believe you have got the news right now.
Shinan, yours truly, did not make it to the Finals of the Chong Pang's Next Top Speaker.
I really wanted a shot at the Finals!
I really truly wanted to add this accolate to my Resume!
Besides being encouraged by my friedns to take part,
I took part in the competition, simply to gin exposure on Public Speaking.
My Dream is to become a Radio DJ.
I understand that by mastering Public Speaking, it would be an added advantage to achieve my Dream!
Well, I guess that the advantage is not present now, as I didn't make it to the finals.

I can't hide the fact that I am disappointed.
I can't hide the fact that I was heart broken.
But I simply had to accept reality.
If I wasn't cut for it, I really did'nt deserved to be in the Finals.
I have tried my best, and I really hoped for the best.
Well, in the end, I could'nt make it.
I was in a room of 13 students.
They came from schools such as Yishun Town, Yishun Sec and Ahmad Imbrahim.
I felt that I could have spoke louder,
and added more expressions, movements and gestures.
Although I was talking about Dreams,
I could'nt interac t with my audience well.
But, I was able to relate with one of the judges, who happens to listen to Class 95FM.
I think people in my room, were very strong!

Also, I had very strong competitors in my group!
The competiton kicked of with the first contestant, who spoked about Leadership.
He was from Yishun Secondary, and was very comfortable on stage.
He was widely expected to make it to the Finals.

And he ended up clinching the Champion in the Finals!

Rebacca Long also deserves a menton, as she talked about racism!

There were others who talked about Lizard brain, fears, relationships and even Cyber Bullying.

Well, that was for the Preliminaries.

For The Finals on Friday,

there was a prepared speech, and impromptu speech.

I was with Sean Lim, Amos and Steven in the audience!

The atmosphere was really tense!

I really enjoyed all the speakers, except the Gambling guy from Ahmad Ibrahim. I was bored by his speech .

1st was Zulfadil from Yishun Sec

2nd was the Gambling guy, from Ahmad Ibrahim. *boringboringboring*

3rd was Brandon Chai, from our school :D

Consolation prizes went to VivAn, Sive, Dorethea and Rebacca.

How I wished I was in the Finals. Too bad :(

I know of people, who supported me, and gave me moral courage.

I know of people, who gave me confidence.

I know of people, who feel I should be ashamed of myself, for being so overconfident, and not getting into the Finals.

I know of people, who said I wasn't a "deserving" speaker.

Whatever so,

I will never forget Brandon's sense of humour, and undeniable cuteness!

I will never forget how ViviAn was so hyper on stage, jumping, and asking a voulunteer.

I will never forget Rebacca Loong, who talked about Racism.

I will never forget Zulfadil, who was a mini "Barack Obama". His confidence, and oomph!

I will never forget how much effort and hard work I invested into the competition.

I will never forget the experience of the lifetime, that I took part in Chong Pang's Next Top Speaker.

Very heartening image!

Wow.

I've finally found time to breath.

This whole week was such a fast paced week.

I was busy with my

International Friendship Day Video,
Chong Pang's Next Top Speaker Competition,
SYF Chinese Drama
Sports Day prep
and pretty loads of school work.

I haven't had much time to turn on my computer, until today!

Anyways,

I had more or less finished my International Friendship Day video.

I have completed all my Sports Day events.

And I have finished preparing for my Speaking competition.

Now, its time for me to blog about what happened this week!

On Tuesday,

its was Guo Dong's birthday!

We celebrated it in the morning.

And guess what, we had a surprise for him!

Edmund and Ryan bought flour!

Guo Dong was actually tied up, for us to splash flour and water on him!

What a cool birthday celebration.

Well, although I wasn't that bad to splash flour on Guo Dong,

I really enjoyed the experience, whereby Guo Dong was "bullied"!

Its was like, others were literally splashing all thier past rivalries on him.

We used to know Guo Dong as someone who had a big mouth, and sharp tongue.

Then, I always wanted to use Dettol, Walch, Lifebuoy, Magicclean and Clorox to clean his mouth!

Now, he is less big-mouthed, much more matured,

but I still frequently get involved in tongue twisting word battles with him!

I envisgate Guo Dong to be someone very successful in future. *no sacrasm involved*

He really will go far in life.

Hopefully, one day, he'll achieve his dream to become some Skin Specialist...

But I'll remember him for being the most truthful, and most cheerful indivivual in our gang!

Happy belated Birthday, Jelly!

Oops. I mean Guo Dong.

Speaking of battles,

I was actually involved in a dispute with Ryan on Thursday.

Yeah yeah yeah.

After assembly, I had two destinations to head to.

Both of my commitments clashed.

I was involved with Speech training with Mdm Priya for my CPNTS.

I was also involved with SYF training with my Chinese Drama.

Heading Jasper's advice, I decided to priortize, and divide my time on the importance of the event.

I allocated 1h 30 mins for my Speaker training, and the rest of the day for Chinese Drama.

Unfortunately I was called out by Ryan, when I was in the ITR Room.

He told me that Chinese Drama had a poor attendance rate on that day,

and I was needed urgently to attend my Chinese Drama.

I stood by my stand, and argued that my Speaker competition on Monday,

whilst my Chinese Drama SYF was on the subsequent week.

I tried to argue my stand, and gave logical reasons on my absence.

I also commited to be back at Chinese Drama, as soon as i finished my Speech training.

Unfortunately, that got him disgruntled.

Just after that instant, he posted on Facebook:

"Since u think syf is more important, u shld just come for CCAs .

If u want replacement we shld just replace u forever.."

It was very very obviously, targetted at me.

I just read this post today, and I must say, I was misunderstood.

I've got to admit that it was impossible for me to split myself into half, and attend both trainings.

I really want to attend both, if time permits me.

I also understand the situation, that one Thursday, many actors was away.

But what is wrong, with asking one person, to temporarily replace me,

till I return from my Speech training?

I had promised that I would return, just at a later time.

I really didn't understand in which way was he dissatisfied.

I'm pretty sure that I was priottising my time well,

and it was almost impossible for me to juggle both my commitments well.

Think about it.

Well, yesterday was Sports Day.

I was involved in the 800m 4x400m, and CCA Relay.

I was mentally prepared for my 800m practice,

as I did NOT sign up for it in the first place.

And I wasn't informed by any individual.

In the end, I came in 5th or 6th.

It was a bad race for me, but I have a story to highlight:

Last Tuesday, I was involved in the 1500m finals.

One of my competitors was Jing Hong, from the Sec 3 cohort.

As I was approaching the last bend, I almost tripped onto him.

At the instance, I immediately said sorry, and went on to overtake him and finish 4th.

Before the Sports Meet, Kay Wee, of 3H told me that Jing Hong said I was very "guai lan".

Simply because, I tripped onto him, said "Hi sorry" and ran away.

I was very disgruntled, as I was misunderstood.

Honestly speaking, on the 1500m final, I tripped Jing Hong accidentally, and not purposely.

Whats more, I said "Hi", and apologized, and asked if he was okay!
How can he say that I was "guai lan"?

-.- what a claim.

Whats more,

Yesterday, during the Sports Meet 800m event,

Jing Hong was my competitor again.

As we were apporaching that same last bend, I was tripped, on my left leg,

and Jing Hong apologized.

I am still contemplating, if that "trip" on my foot,

was accidental or deliberate.

I'll not make any wild assumptions.

But I truly hope that Jing Hong is not offended.

And we'll be able to display true sportsmanship,

if we ever meet again, in running events.

Last but not least, I came in 4th for Blue House.

For the 4 x 400m relay event.

it was a close fight, although it was a last minute change.

I felt that Jin Han, Ce Yong, that Sec 3 guy had did their bests.

And it was an enjoyable, and memorable experience.

We were actually just one or two seconds behind the 3rd placed team.

Also, for my 4x100 CCA relay, representing Chinese Drama.

We got of to a very good start, with me and Jia Fan leading he pack for first 200m.

We were very close to the medal opportunity.

So close, yet so far! :(

I've been struck by the 4 curse.

4th for 4x400m Relay.

4th for 1500m finals.

4th for 4 x 100m CCA Relay.

1500M Sports Day Finals :D

WOW.

My legs hurt quite a fair bit.

I just finished my 1500m B Boys Final for Sports Day!

I came in 4th placing!

This actually all started with Jin Han.

Jin Han was the one who convinced me.

He said I should take part in some events, since it was my last year in CCHY.

He also kept pestering me, saying I should run fro Blue house!

After much consideration, hmmmm.

I decided. Just to take part in one event, and do it well!

So I signed up for the 1500m event, which was my one and only event.

Today, it was the FINALS!

Before the competition, I actually considered myself as an underdog.

Firstly, there was hot favourites like Eddie, Li Ren and Javier.

Secondly, I had just recovered from a fever last weekend!

Thirdly, I haven't being training for the past two weeks.

With the "underdog" thought in my mind,

I still decided to put my best foot forward in my run, and stay positive.

I keep telling myself: SHINAN, you can do it!

I thought to myself: "If possible, I could win something!"

Prove those critics

So in the end, I came in 4th.

I was actually literally seconds away from that medal opportunity!

I was almost catching up with the 3rd guy in front of me!

Hahaha. So Close, yet SO FAR :D

But yet I'm still not demoralized.

I will still strive to do my best in whatever run I take part in.

I would like to thank those who gave me support, and encouragement!

I also like to thank the bunch of 2D'09 girls who shouted my name during the second round.

All of the encouragements meant soooooooooo much to me :D

I also like to thank Jin Han for persuading me to sign up for the event.

Although I did not win any medal, it was definitely a memorable experience!

I really enjoyed myself throughly and I knew I did my best!

Also I would like to give a shoutout to my Sec 3 Juniors.

Jia Fan from 3H told me that the 3rd place runner was already giving up,

but then, my juniors shouted my name, and the third place runner heard it,

and picked up his pace to prevent me from getting into 3rd position.

Oops. Erm, actually I really don't really take it to heart, and I'm really not angry (:

Don't need to apologize le bah. x.x

Before I go,

here's a thought:

When people ask me why I run, I tell them, there's not really a reason, it's just the adrenalin when you start, and the feeling when you cross that finish line, and know that you are a winner no matter what place you got.

Term 2 Week 1! - HECTIC!

Got back My Common Test result slip, just yesterday!

WOW.

1 Week just went pass like that!

This week was one hectic one.

Not only do I have to study and revise for the Amaths Mock Exam,

I also have loads and loads of homework to clear. .___.

Lets start with Monday!

Monday was quite a short day.

We skipped HCL lessons!

Cuz our Higher Chinese teacher 杨老师 was sick.

On Monday, I received a couple of exam results including:

Bio : 20/30.

SS: 13/13

My Biology is kinda a lukewarm result.

Yes, I passed, but I had some very obvious conceptual errors.

Especially in the Reproduction In Plants topic.

Also, I'm quite happy with my Social Studies result, because I figured out that not many people in the cohort scored full marks.

And I knew that my efforts of memorizing, writing and weighing were not wasted.

Then on Tuesday, I could believe my eyes, when I received my Geography result.

I got 9/13, which was a result higher than my class's average.

Not only did I do well, my paper had less red scribblings from my "FAVORITE TEACHER", Mrs Ang.

I had grasped a lot of concepts, and explanations correctly!

Therefore, I knew that for my Common Test this time,

my Combined Humanities will display significant improvement!

On the whole, I felt that I could have done better for the Common Test.

I did show a bit of improvement such as HCL, Emaths and Geography.

In some subjects, I still managed to squeeze in a pass, when most others in class couldn't.

BUT, my Amaths still remains at the precarious 50%.

Despite sitting in front, practicing and finishing all Ms Woo's homwork,

my Amaths is still SHIT.

.____.

Enough of the Common Test.

I'll be looking forward to our Prelims, to do better!

Unfortunately, I contracted fever yesterday afternoon.

My whole body was aching, and my forehead was super heaty.

My body temperature was a whopping 38.6 degrees.

After visiting the doctor, I was told that it was due to Viral Infection,

that made me catch a fever.

I really hope I can recover as soon as possible!

Because I have a lot of competitions, and tasks, in the month of April.

I have my Chong Pan's Next Top Speaker, 1500M Sports Day Finls on Tuesday, SYF Chinsese Drama, and my Napha Test.

I really fell sick on the wrong period of time!

But anyway, I'm feeling much better now.

After popping in fever pills that my fmily doctor has prescribed to me.

Fingers crossed, I hope to be able to make it to school on Monday,

and of course, take part in my 1500M B Boys Finals on Tuesday!

March Holidays! ;( ; PODCAST :D

Wish I had a day to take a breather. But I couldn't.

I know I always start by blog posts with this:

"Time Flies!".

I really hate how time flies by you, without you even noticing it.

You only notice it when time is gone.

And for a fact, it will never come back.

March Holidays are over!

It wasn't even a holiday, some might argue.

Yeah, a lot of people had to return back to school for CCAs and remedials.

I myself, had to go back everyday for at least 3 hours for Chinese Drama SYF Practice.

Its really tiring .____.

Having to see the same faces over and over again.

Going through the same thing over and over again.

*thumbs down* I did not even have much time for revision and even homework.

Everyday during the March Holidays,

I was practically rushing against time.

Once I reached home, I always tell myself that I have to complete as much as possible,

so that I will have time to do own stuff.

And finally, I completed all my homework on Friday.

FML. -.-

I really need a break.

I just need one day, where I do not need to worry about overdue homeowork.

Where I do not need to stage a battle between time.

However, yesterday, I managed to squeeze in 2 hours to do something meaningful!

I still remembered what Vivien told me about making podcasts, some days ago.

So since I had some spare time, I decided to utilize the minimal timeframe I have,

to do a first podcast.

My podcast content was: To recommend a song, to the audience of my blog.

So I took about 10 mins to finish the scrip writing, about 15mins to play with my Mixing software.

And I started recording, cutting, and piecing all my talk sets together.

In the end, I finished my podcast 2 hours later, at 8pm.

After finishing, I immediately when on MSN to ask Steven to take a listen to it.

His ratings were:

Editing skills- 10/10 cool stuff;D
Voice - Subjective (room for improvement)
Expression- 0/10 ;/ he told me to be more expressive, like MTV VJ UTT.

Steven said it sounded like a Oral Exam, but had loads of potential to improve.

I wasn't discouraged or whatsoever.

Was quite happy that Steven gave me very useful comments.

And I knew exactly how to improve.

Thereafter, I also emailed Vivian my podcast.

Unexpectedly, this morning,

I opened my Gmail, only to receive Vivien's email about my podcast!

Did'nt expect her to reply so quickly :D

but her reply was very positive.

And very encouraging as well!

She also told me to improve on my expression.

But also added that my voice and editing skills were plus points.

Pretty cool huh =)

I was really pleased with the response that my 2 friends gave.

Really brightened up my day!

I will consider doing more podcasts, if time is on my side!

Woohoo. Also, judging from the response I got on Facebook,

With 15 plus positive comments..

March Holidays!

My first successful lighting up of the Bunsen Burner.

And my first Physics experiment that I was proud of.

I'm back!

It is already the March Holidays le.

Very very soon, O Levels will be here. .____.

Anyways,

4F went back to school yesterday for Chemistry and Physics Practical.

Chem practical was about Salts again.

Although I understood the experiment,

I did'nt understand the conclusion part of the experiment.

So as usual, I copied the conclusion part from my peers.

Just like every other 4F student!

Seriously I really buay tahan that Conical Flask.

We haven't start doing the experiment, she already started scolding us.

.____. it's always like that.

Shortly after Chemistry Practical,

it was Physics Practical.

Our dear Mr Ling said it was our FIRST and LAST practical.

In preparation for SPA on the coming term.

The topic was on Temperature and Heat.

I wasn't very fluent with the theory part of these chapers.

But I agar agar had an idea on what exactly I'm doing.

The first experiment was about heat loss.

It involved boiling of the water about 90 degree celsius.

Then have to measure the drop in temeperature every min, till it reaches 50 degress.

Wa bing eh. Wasted 13 mins of my time, just waiting for it to cool down.

The second experiment was much much much cooler! (SEE IMAGE ON TOP)

We had to measure certain values, and calcultae the Specific Heat Capacity of the metal piece.

So we had to boil the water, using the bunsen burner.

As usual, for someone who has a phobia of fire, I did'nt dare to light it up.

So I was reminded of what Coach Elgin says: OVERCOME YOUR FEARS!

I thought: Okay .____. let me give it a try.

So I picked up the Bunsen Burner, turned on the gas tap, and tried lighting the fire.

After a few clicks, there was a very mini explosion.

There was a small fire ball appearing for half a second.

Woah. I closed to gas tap.

Only to realize that I had not closed the air hole.

In fact, I opened it fully!

I still remember what Mrs Catherine Chan, my Sec 1 Physics teacher said.

"Always close the air hole when lighting the Bunsen Burner, or not there will be a strike-back! Try loh, if you dare!"

and BOOM! I had a strikeback. heheheee ;D

Determined, I closed the air hole, and after the second attempt, I lighted up the Bunsen Burner.

I was so proud of myself !!

I LIGHTED UP A BUNSEN BURNER!!!!

Next time, I will never need Amos or Wee Peng to help me light up my dear Bunsen Burner.

Once bitten, twice shy, a lesson learnt.

I will NOT open the air hole when lighting the Bunsen Burner.

After practical, went out with Amos, Vivien, Yi Ze, Steven, Wei Ming, Firdaus and Ryan to Wendy's.

I had a Double Fish Burger, plus Ice Cream, small fries and Iced Milo, for $6.

I must say the Double Fillet FIsh was awesome. Much better than KFC or McDonalds.

But, the serving was too big for me to finish. Wa biang. I sibei full.

The $6 was quite well spent!

Also chatted with Amos, Vivien and Yi Ze!

Shinan : Aiyah. Even if I complete my Mass Communications diploma, I may not guaranteed have a chance to be in the media industry.

Vivien: Hmmmm I can relax. Cuz I'm signed to a Taiwanese Media Company le la.

I'll be mugging real hard during the March Holidays!

Must revise, revise and revise.

Practice Practice and Practice.

Especially when Ms Woo told me that she plans to kill us during her tests, and assignments next term. .______. ms woo. please let me be motivated!

Besides having to go to Chinese Drama everyday, I'll take time off for recreation.

Like rnnung on alternate days, and training for Pull Ups for the Napha Test next month.

Also looking forward to meeting Jasper for a climb and jog tomorrow afternoon.

Motivational Workshop Day 3!

Coach Elgin and ME :D

Time flies huh!
Yesterday, it was the last day of our motivational workshop.
Project Super Achievers!

The day was amazingly short!
Coach Elgin started of with the different types of Effective Note Taking.
It wasn't particularly useful.
Because in 4F, notes are usually printed by teachers.
But I know that next time, perhaps in JC/ Poly,
these techniques would be very very useful :D
The methods of note taking are:
Tables, Flow Charts and Cornell Note Taking!
We also learn about how to improve our own notes.
And it really came in very effective.

After the break, it was all about Memory Techniques.
He showed us a video of a 2002 Memory Champion.
Who used locations to remember poker cards.
Honestly, it was something that was out of the ordinary.
I figured out that probably because I had STM.
i couldn't memorize some of the words they gave.
I had super poor memory. when i say super poor, it really means super poor!
But by using the " Relate two words into a image" method,
I managed to comfort myself. I could at least memorize 10/20 words.
Still pathetic huh.

After the last break, the coaches surprised us with a Sec 3 Emaths Common Test.
He said he wanted to test our responsiveness.
And I did not do too badly.
35/45! Its an A2 (:
He also showed us this video,which I was super inspired by it.
It is about a Baseball coach, encouraging a team leader to overcome all odds.
Its called Facing The Giant- The Death Crawl.

Last but not least,
He ended of with several important words of encouragement, such as:
" YOU ARE MORE THAN WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE!"
" GIVE YOUR BEST."
' WHEN YOU FAIL, KEEP TRYING!"
" TOGETHER IS POWER".

It was definitely a good three days with Coach Elgin.
I was inspired to do well.

I knew i had to take 21 days for a habit, and should sleep 8 hours a day.
I've learnt so much.
About my personality,my goals, my dreams, and how to do well.
And I knew exactly how to improve my weaknesses.
I did'nt feel much of being a "Super Achiever".
But I knew I soon would be one.
Hopefully I can get help from people.
Hopefully I can slowly, but surely improve my attitude towards everything.
And, hopefully, I can achieve.
"Nothing is impossible. If you think you can, you can"
Right?

After bidding goodbye to the Motivational Workshop,
Seaveral schoolmates, chinese drama people and me headed to NYJC.
We went, as audience, for their 白云岗 performance!
One drama was about men's feelings, one was about the power of scissors.
Quite cool i must say!
Its wasn't exactly awesome.
But it was not that bad.
Some of the actors really acted very convincingly!
So after the show, we went on the MRT, and headed home.
This is a memorable part!

I shared a joke with Guan Hoe, Qi Wen, and others who went to watch the peroformance, between Bishan and Ang Mo Kio.
It was about me, once, keeping up with the mad squeeze on the MRT.

" One time I was on the MRT, and it was so damn crowded.

So I was literally squeezed to the brim of the train doors.

I did'nt notice I was being abit squeezed out of the train.

So when the doors were closing, the train doors slammed into my specs.

And it went crooked.

And I immediately retracted my head.

After the doors closed, I was almost kissing the doors.

Epic huh. "

And everyone, including the girls laughed.
:D for the first time!

the day just went passed like this !

I was still feeling a bit emo.

But it was still okay.

Motivational Workshop Day 2!

Day 2 Of Motivational Workshop!

I stress again, that Coach Elgin is awesome!

He has the power to drive the crowd, and on a certain extent, inspire me.

Let me share with you what happened today.

Coach Elgin started off with the Personality Test.

Although it sounded kind of boring, and ridiculous,

it turned out to be a rather pleasant experience.

Through the test, I realised more about myself, and knew exactly what I could do to improve myself.

So, I am a "S'.

It is part of a DISC framework aimed to devise people's personality.

I looked through Wikipedia, and found out that "S" stands for:

Steadiness – relating to patience, persistence, and thoughtfulness.

I was surprised on how accurate the test was!

It described me, almost perfectly!

My personality type of "S" would be:

Stable and Steady yup. I am calm and cool.
Super Nice depends on who, when and what!
Shy well, totally true.
Enjoy simple pleasures yup. simple works for me.
Good listener ;D i hang out with the I's.
Resists Change I HATE change. sorry obama.
Bear Grudges i still remember what some people did to me in primary school.
Hangs out with "I" people. totally true!
Too Laidback hmmmm. nope! I work hard.

He also asked us to take a Brain Test.

I was 56% right brained, and 44% left brained.

The Left Brain helps people in their logic, calculations, and anaylysis.

The Right brain helps in colours, emotions, imagination blah blah.

Hmmmm. I'm not a study person after all!

I'm actually an Auditory Learner.

But I kind off feel that I belong to Visual ;p zzzzzz

Coach Elgin also spent the last part of the day, talking about the importance of Group Studies.

The importance of Friendship.

Coach Elgin shared with us a very touching story about himself, and his buddy.

They have gone through thick and thin.

And they had really close ties.

So that got me thinking, WHO exactly is my buddy?

Yeah. I hang out with Ryan, Yi An, and basically all my 2D'09 friends.

I am pathethic.

I realised that I did'nt even have a soulmate/very close friend.

Just like how Jing Yi and Adeline address each other.

Perhaps because of my weird persona.

My shy personality, based on the "S" personality test.

Yes. I have a group of friends who I can relate to, and care about me.

But if I am in crisis,

I need someone specific who is able to stand through thick and thin with me.

Who is willing to share my laugher, share my tears?

Who is willing to reply my text messages, at 2am in the morning?

Who is able to tolerate my differences and imperfections?

I question myself.

Well, I used to have someone I was very close to.

He was literally someone I could relate too.

I accepted his imperfections and differences, and he accepted mine.

We got along pretty well, and shared the same perspectives, same interests on music, so on and so forth.

Unfortunately, he betrayed me just some weeks ago.

I wont say out what exactly happened. Well, only one person knows.

Neither does he know why I am so cold towards him recently.

I didn't really express how disappointed I was.

But I knew, I lost someone that could really get along with me very well.

Moving on, Coach Elgin played the game Huddles with us.

We were supposed to grab each other, in groups of 9-10.

And prevent everyone from falling out of the team, when the coaches grabbed you.

So everyone in my group hung on to each other, strongly.

We were literally like Solid particles, in kinetic particle theory.

"CLOSELY PACKED".

There was Ryan, Yi An,Yu Chen, Amos, Hong Yi, Zeng Ding, Raynold and ME!

The game was very memorable. =)

I will always remember it for life!

And we managed to resist the Coach's pullings.

Well Done, guys!

He explained that, in our fight towards O Levels, Everyone has to be hold on to each other.

Everyone should let the power of friendship, bond them together.

Everyone should work together, towards a Common Goal.

Everyone should hang on to each other, just like in Huddles.

We should all finish O Levels together, as group, as a class, as a cohort.

It was kinda very inspiring.

And from now onwards, I am willing to help everyone who needs help.

I'm willing to treasure everyone around me.

And work hand in hand with them.

Last but not least, he offered people, to opportunity AGAIN.

For people to stand in front of the crowd, and explain their fears, what help they need, as share about the personal problems they were facing.

Unlike yesterday, plenty of people were willing to stand up, with courage, and tell people what help do they need, and what they would like to change.

There was Firdaus, W.Z, Steven, Yi Ze, Ming Yuan, Ryan, Yi An, Sean, Xin Ting, Natalie, Adeline, Jing Yi, Vivien, Jia Xian and so much more.

I respect these people who went up, and mustered their courage!

Well, for those who read my blog yesterday, were probably looking at me, asking me why I didn't went up.

I hate to say this.

But I am a coward.

I don't dare to speak up to people.

I'm shy, and very self centered.
I only share my problems with my very close friends.

People usually know me as someone who works very hard in my studies. I've asked people about their impressions about me. They say:

"Aiyah, Shinan work very hard luh. He studies very hard, and its kinda the good student in class. He is super good in English, and i'm sure that he do well.He, stupid chiongster. ..." Well, thats what I look to be. But people who sit around me, and are close to me, knows otherwise. Right. i am someone who works very hard, to achieve my As. A lot of people say that. But many people fail to know that my hard work, does not guarantee me good grades. I'm not someone who has high IQ. In fact, I appealed into 3F, from 3E. Basically, my studies are not that awesome.

I fail my Amaths. I can go for consultation. with Ms Woo. I can do loads of practices.I can pay $115 dollars for Amaths tution on the weekends. I can tell myself: Amaths! I can kill this fear, I can do well!". But my A Maths results just aren't in my favour. I scored a mere 20/40 for Common Test. I always feel hurt, when my hard work doesn't turn out to be good results.

Here is what I intended to say, IF i had the courage to do so.

" I put in a lot of effort to do well. But I still don't. I am appealing to those, who can help me in Amaths, Physics, Chemistry and Geography. I really want people to motivate me, and push me! I want to be in a study group!

I also need people, to help me to stop being anti-social. I only hang out with my certain group of friends, but I want to make more. To survive in the society, I need to be less anti social.

I NEED HELP.

Help me, through to the journey towards the O Levels!

Motivational Workshop Day 1!

I was certainly motivated, during Project Super Achievers.

What a great day it was.

Any idea how motivated I am?

I really take my hats off to Coach Elgrin.

He really got the whole crowd's attention.

And I, was certainly motivated by him.

Coach Elgrin started off with the difference between Enduring Success and Short Term Success.

That got me thinking hard!

And I realised that I only usually only had short term success.

For instance,

Yes, in secondary 2, I can top the class for English.

Under Ms Lau and Mrs Tan, I was the only perosn in class who had an A1 for English during CA2.

But did I sustain the success?

The answer is: NO i did'nt.

Till date, under Ms Teng, I still fail, sometimes miserably, for my English tests and assignments.

So i felt that, HEY, Coach Elgrin is right.

I have to aim for Enduring Success.

The fruits of temporary success, gets rotten easily.

But for "Enduring Success", you don't get the fruits at the instant.

Instead, you get fruits that are of a good quality, and can be preserved!

So from now on, I'm definitely aiming for Long Term Success.

This theory, will undoubtedly be etched in my mind =)

Then he moved on to talking about values of life.

"Willing to learn" or blah blah blah.

I wasn;t partculaly interested in that, and it was pretty boring!

He managed to catch my attention, AGAIN, after the recess break!

He talked about FEARS.

WOW! I have a plenty of fears:

Fear Of Lightning/ Thunder stop laughing. I know, its funny. But I'm still afraid.
Fear Of Rejection I hate being rejected, and not getting what I want. I'm afraid that people will look down on me.
Fear Of Fire wtf. this is a long time fear. Have you seen m running away from a lighter? I bet you did.
Fear Of Failure When I fail, I emo. But I'll still climb up, and continue my journey ;p
Fear Of Being Myself. Sometimes, I think that I'm not myself, jus to feel accepted by friends. In a total dilemma.

I totally agreed with what he said.

"You always fear, because you THINK you will fail"

Its all up to your personal mentality!

I'll make an effort to change my "FEARFUL" mentality.

He also offered us the opportunity to stand in front of 80 students,

express their fears, and show the determination of conquer their fears.

Well, Duan Feng was the only one to go in front,

and explain about his fear of failing Physics, Amaths and Emaths.

I kinda admire him for the courage he has.

Honestly, I'm coward. ten points for me, for saying that.

I don't dare to express my fears out.

I always allow fears to control me, and affect my life.

And by the way, actually I almost wanted to go up front to talk about my fear.

My Fear was: Fear of not having my ambition come true.

So yeah. You guessed it.

Courage played punk on me, and I did'nt went up.

But I can't do anything about it.

I'll quote Coach Elgrin: There was a chance for you. But too bad, you missed it. Thats it. No more chances.

He also went on to talk about Goals and Dreams.

WOW. I have a dream.

To be a Radio DJ. a lot of people know about it!

Well, I did work towards my dream.

I did wrote to Mister Young of Lush 99.5 (ex 987FM) DJ about my ambitions, just that he did not reply me.

I did consult Boy Thunder of Radio 91.3, on Facebook, but he also did not reply.

I did find out more about being a Radio DJ online and on the books.

Last year, I also compiled my OWN radio shows, featuring my talksets.

Thanks to Eddie, Natalie and Yi Hao.

I also started to mimic the DJs. dont say i;m retarded.

Try to train my responsiveness.

Try to write Radio Show scripts.

And also clinch a couple of school based opportunities, to build up my portfolio.

So yeah. I've been working towards my dream.

But I think I need to work harder.

BTW, also Thanks for all those who encourage me to pursue my passion.

Last but not least, he ended of with Time Management Skills.

The 4 Quadrant Theory ;D

Well, I wont say I have the worst time management on Earth.

But its pretty bad luh.

Sometimes I really stone, and literally let time fly. LIKE A G6.

LOL so i've just printed my holiday timetable.

It'll be a headache to decide, what time is for what.

Yeah. Everyone has 24 Hours. Just like a zip lock bag!

I'll learn to treasure time, and plan my time.

And I'll start to adopt the 1 Hour/per day revision habit.

Well, I will always remember that it takes 21 Days to build a habit.

Thats it for the first day of Project Super Achievers.

I've written digitally, about my feelings and thoughts!

I envisage my journey towards O levels, will get better, and more effective.

I'm already more motivated to study and learn.

And I also hope, that you, as a reader of my blog, is motivated as well!

Reflections Of My Common Test 1!

i could have gotten 16/18 for my ss test, but Soviet Union cost me 6 marks. damn it.

MS AMBIGA!

Well, you can say I'm addicted to blogging!

Ms Teng says: Shinan, your English is okay! Read more and write more.

So hopefully, through the constant use of the language, I can improve in my English.

Today was a mixed bag day.

It is the day that we actually got back most of our results.

So first up, it was Additional Maths a.k.a A Maths.

Ms Woo said: 4F definitely did better than 4H! Most of you got 28, 29!

But I knew that I wasn't one of those.

While many may claim that Amaths is such a easy subject.

Many can close two eyes, and pass Amaths.

But, I just can't score.

Yes. I do all of Ms Woo's Amaths homework.

I finish them on time.

I do them with enthusiasm and pride.

So yeah, you guessed it.

My Amaths result was pretty poor.

20/40. yeah i passed. but it was a lousy pass.

I guessed my efforts had gone down the drain. again.

I'm not demoralized or emotional.

Well, I only know that, each time I fail, I MUST do better.

From Ms Woo's facial expression, I know that she is disappointed.

But what can I do? 我已经尽力了！

I will continue to look for Ms Woo if I have dobuts.

And will continue to practice and work hard ba!

I believe, some day, I will get there. ;(

Next up, it was English.

13/25, ranked 6/40 in class.

LOL.

How do I enter Mass Comm with such a result?!!!?

CHEMISTRY: 16/30 zzzzz. conical flask.

EMATHS: 32/45 hmmm. i found 1 mark, that mrs goh forget to count! the fortune chocolate she gave had a messgae message is: friends long absent are coming back to you. LOL.

SS TEST(not common test): 11/18.

wth. was marked down by "soviet union". If i changed soviet union to North Korea, it would easily been a 16/18! Even our Ms Ambiga smacked my head, asking me what the hell i was thinking. hmmmm. once bitten. twice shy. .____.

HCL: 36/60 haha. okay luh. 再接再厉！

See... I told you it is a bad result.

Some argue that at least I did pass.

But think again, does anyone only aim for a pass?

Hmmm. Spare me all those sacarsm.

I'm planning my "MARCH HOLIDAY MUGGING PLAN"!

Have you seen a peacock? If you are someone who is a total show off, you are as proud as a peacock.

Have you encountered people like this:

"Hey, look at my test grade. Its the lowest in class!"

and you look at his/her paper.

it wrote: 48/50

-.- you brain may say: what the fuck is wrong with him. darn proud ass

Humility is the word I shall blog about today.

Everyone knows that we should all be humble.

Yet, there are still people in this world today, that are as proud as a peacock.

I appreciate that once in a while, everyone has the right to be proud of their achievements.

But, that doesn't mean you continuosuly show off every good thing you get.

I really don't like people who CONSTANTLY like to brag about how good they are!

They always come to me: eh, i win you for blah blah blah.

Come on, can you guys be more humble?

Please recognize the fact that different people learn at different paces.

Everyone is unique, and has different abilities.

While you may have achieved something, I doesn't mean others dont want to achieve.

Everyone wants success.

But if you do very well, stop comparing!

Dont go around, telling people how great you are.

Dont go around trying to be sarcastic, and pass rude-ass comments.

Instead, be glad that you've done well.

Aim for a better achievement.

And I'm be sure, your achievements will be sustained.

Learn to be humble.

Start being humble.

Make humility a part of your life.

Humble is a virtue, that can help you develop as a person, and have better relationships with your peers.

Humble, is the only way that you can self improve, and do well in future.

Stay Humble.

2011. A New Beginning. (My Physics Teacher)

If you can pass Physics during Common Test, why can't you do the same for Amaths? ~ WHM

I'm back.

18496 views. Since June 2008.

Thats a pretty impressive figure.

That works out to about 6000 views per year, 20 views per day!

Well, I've decided to go back to blogging.

I want to tell the world about my life.

Plus, blogging would be a great way to improve my English.

Wow. How time flies. Its Week 9 of 2011.

And we have just finished Common Test!

Haven't received any results, except PHYSICS cuz I guess the teachers can finish marking ba.

PHYSICS : 26/50 (You can do better!- written by Mr Ling)

Was really glad I DID passed.

Although the pass was very borderline, I was glad to have remained consistent.

The pass, comes as a consolation to my Dec Holiday Physics Masterplan (Y), self made notes, and finishing my EPB O Level Ten Year Series.

I did work very hard, very very hard.

My hard work even prompted Steven, to say to me when I showed him my Physics Paper: " You work working so hard in Physics, that you almost became a threat to me. "

Hmmmm.... I will strive to do better for Physics ba (:

Well, I know, for many, passing a subject isn't what everyone wants to have.

But in 4F, Physics is considered one of our weaker areas.

Yeah, some students do put in a lot of effort to study.

But generally, other students usually don't give a damn to Mr Ling's lesson.

Since this year, he has been using PowerPoint after PowerPoint.

Giving one scolding after another.

Getting lambasted by our class, cause he simply refuses to print us notes.

He simply reads from the PowerPoint(s).

Making not much effort to explain the theories.

And giving us meagre, or sometimes NO, amount of practice.

Gradually, our class lost interest in Physics, and began to fail test after test.

His teaching attitude, then, was frankly speaking, simply crap.

But things changed on Thursday 02/03/2011 10.00am.

He started of CLOVES lesson with a blue, Design Template themed PowerPoint, in yellow/white Arial font, that wrote:

"Physics Grouping. How can you do better?"

He managed to grab everyone's attention, when he said he was revealing Physics consultation groupings, based on Common Test results.

Only 12 people passed. The highest was Steven, 34/50.

Well, Group I had the best results (34 to 30)

Group II (29-25) - the group I was in.

and subsequently, until Group 5.

For the first time, he displayed genuine effort to improve our class.

He decided to explain his "A1 to B3" theory, and kinda give us a wake up call.

Everyone anticipated on what he wanted to say.

This was the moment finally grabbed the attention of our class.

He has changed to become somewhat more vocal, someone who tries very hard to interact with the class.

He nows airs his views and thoughts about our class very frequently.

Fast forward till today 04-03-2011, during Physics lesson, I saw him SMILE :D

Our class was listening to him teach Specific Latent Heat!

He finally printed notes!

Everyone in class seems focused, engrossed and was willing to listen to what he has to teach.

He continued to be vocal, as interacted with the class adequately.

Everyone, except a minority, did his worksheets, and ask questons.

I envisigate Physics lessons to be more enriching, entertaining and fulfilling for weeks and months to come!

Kudos to "Ah Ling" . Ganbateh! You are finally improving. =)

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank certain people, who have helped me tremendously for the past few months.

1. Guan Hoe.

You are someone whom I look for, when i need help and advice. He is future psychologist/psychiatrist to be! Thank you for convincing me, on certain things in life. I still remember the thought provoking questions you posed to me, when I needed help in certain issues!

"If you're given a chance, where will you stand? Beside her, in front of her, or behind her?"

" If I told you you that she's getting married to ***, what is your reaction? "

LOL (: You are like my free lance advisor, counsillor! Sorry, but you've to tolerate with my nonsensical thoughts sometimes! I will always remember your quote that you gave me recently:

"You will WIN! If you don't, at least you showed courage to!"

2. Jasper Oh

This happened very recently, just this week ba!

I was betrayed by someone, and thus, got to communicate with Jasper more frequently.

Japser found out about one very dirty habit of mine, and offered to help me to change it.

He constantly encouraged me, and told me not to give up.

He offered me advice on how to change my habit, and did not look down on me!

Throughout this period of Common Tests, we also chatted quite frequently.

I knew more about him, and was impressed about of his witty life!

He also has an ambition, to be a psychologist/psychiatrist.

I also realised that he, in fact, was someone who was very sincere.

"Small guy, Big heart!"

Jiayous with whatever you are pursueing!

I will always remember you quote:

" Dont give up due to setbacks. They, actually will make you stronger!"

1st Of April 2010.

After its 4 Month 26 Days absence.
Almost 16000 times, this blog has been visited since 13/2/2008.
My blog has came a long way huh.
This time, the blog makes a grander than ever return.
New thought provoking contents would be introduced.
And updates will be as often as possible.

2009 went by in a flash.
I kind of stone every now and then,
To reminsce those happy moments that i experienced.
Now, we are in 2010.
2010 is the beginning of a brand new decade.
And the beginning of a brand new chapter in my life.
Life is undoubtfully even more challenging.
With even more torturing terrains I have to face.

2/01/2010
A moment of realization hit me.

"Hey! You're in Sec 3 now! I know its a bit hard to believe, but shift your head downwards, you wearing long pants huh. No more short pants. No more spoon feeding. WAKE UP dude."

I told myself that I was ready to face reality.
I am in 2010, and in Sec 3F.
I have new friends to make, new syllabus to cover, new teachers to comment about, new environment to adapt... aiyo, just everything new la.
Then, I laughed at myself.
How silly was I.
So, yup.
3 Months gone by just like that.
I got to admit the first three months of 2010 were very turbulent and rough.
From failing Additional Mathematics tests consecutively, to experienceing loads of emotional breakdowns, to getting sick on the third week of school.
Well, you'll see why i experienced the hell out of myself.

The highlight of the first 3 months is probably the Sec 3 Leadership Camp.
I was treated with an adventurous camp into LooLa, in Bintan.
I must say that the camp was generally really enjoyable.
The activities were super fun xD.

1. Flying Fox.

Omg. I couldn't believe i got the guts to jump down. But it was very thrillling though. The splashing part, no no no, not fun xD

2. Sky Walk

I stood a height of 6 metres as I looked down in trepidation. My heart was racing, my palms were sweaty, and my head was spinning. I had always had a fear of heights. I grabbed the nearest support as my heart palpated into fear and anxiety. I asked myself, was I able to make it for the "Sky Walk"? I tried to calm myself down, and told myself: "Never give up, Shinan, you can overcome this obstacle!" And I eventually made it. LOL.

3. Hill Trek

Woah. No bad huh. Conquered more than 200metres. The hill trek was very tough, but very fun as well. Once in a lifetime experience.

4. Boom Net

Last day liao. But the net jumping from level 3 was superb. Like commiting suicide like that.Phew.

Well, those were just some of the activities. If you know what I mean.

But arguably one of the questions people ask me is that:

" Why did you say those crude and insulting remarks during the camp fire?"

While I do express regret and apologize for my unacceptable behavior.

I, Soh Shi Nan, sincerely apologize to 3D, 3G, Sean Lim Wei Xin ,3H and all relavant parties for my crude and insulting remarks made during the Sec 3 Camp. I have regretted on my actions. Many of my close friends would know that being a radio DJ has always been my ambition. Therefore, I readily took up the post as a chance of me to experience what was it like to speak to a large audience.

I am aware of the negative remarks people made about me saying that I was rude, abrupt and disrespectful.

Even when I was in the dorm, I could hear people giving negative remarks about my speech.

A close friend even literally spoke behind my back as I was sitting oppositely behind him.

However, I will take criticism to stride and make sure that similar events would never repeat itself again.

That day i was deleting messages off my phone.
I came across Edmund's messages.
That reminded me of the incident that happened a few months ago.
I was thinking, hey, Edmund's right.
I gotta do something about it.
I'm not going to show the cold shoulder forever.
Then an idea struck
Since i was deciding to produce the second phase of my podcast,
why not ask HER to be the judge?
That could possibly smashed the friendship barrier she mentioned.
On MSN a few months ago.
So hey, i picked up the idea on last Monday,
and decided to rush out Phase 2 of the podcast.
And voila, its finished yesterday at 5PM.
After countless headaches.
So i msged her about trying to get rid of the barrier using the podcast.
She never reply. I expected her to. Damn.

It was very tough at first.

Which managed to brighten up my day yesterday,'Which suxed.

It started off with me seeing a scene didn't like to see during recess.
I had no choice but to force myself to believe Yu Song 's words of wisdow a few few weeks ago.
At least the Maths and Science trail was much better than last year's.
I had FUN:D and enjoyed myself throughoutly,

But happiness wasn;t the elemement present in the afternoon.
I saw SEAN holding on to ST Media Workshop consent form.
I was earthsturken.
Cause i really did like to attend workshop.
Which offers opportunities to pursue my obession in radio as a media.
But too bad i was turned down by Miss Wong.
Saying that all the places were filled.
I'm down.

The crappy day did not end here.
During the aftrenoon,
i was overwhelmed with fatigue during the literature exhibition
I was tired and could not foucus on what to do.
To make matters worst,
his growing displeasure on me came back.
Which puts me in a deep state of guilt and also anger plus a bit of fear.
I couldn't take it anymore.
I was almost breaking down.
I didn;t want o be cold warred again.
I really dont.
But did i have a choice?
He had the freedom to vent his frustration and expose his emotions.
I dont.

Last week we received the small little reulut slips that Mr Yip had written for us.
My History, Art and Home Econ amnaged to pull off <80.
My English, Chinese, Maths, Lit and Geog only managed to pull in around 0marks.
My Science were at a thrashing 57.
That wrapped up my 729/1000 result acheivement of 2009
To land at No 15 in class and No 41 in the cohort.\To exactly land at 3G.
but i'm still con fused on which class to choose ;(

This week was fun.
We had the Mid Autumn Festival celebrations just on friday.
Sean and Valarie was the hosts.
I felt that the celebration was more like a mega concert or something.
Just various CCAs performing.
Without telling us what the real meaning of Mid Autumn Festival is?
Thats really meaningless and i'm ashamed our school has had this lousy celebaration
Speaking of Sean,
His hosting was ok la.
For first timers.
I mean he could do much better.
Like correcting some mispronunciations?
Why did they not ask me and try for hosting?
I mean i'm sure i will do better than SEAN.
But i didn't forget.
A lot of opportunities are left for our Prefects.

School reopened.
This week a *booms*.
I'd like to confess.
On Friday,
i saw a thing in her hand.
and i compared it to mine.
and i was sure we would never work out together.
We had too much differences.
I will never be good enough for her.

and asked him to do me a favour.

Yesterday was in jeopardy.
During recess, of course i and ryan plus others were discussing about something.

Last Friday got result slip.
I was still in top 20. phew.
but the results were under par ya.
as compared to others.
My English is the only A1 in class. Mrs Tan is going to be so proud of me.
I really wish to improve in Science.
Just now i was studying effects of electricity,

" This is it. I'm gonna ace Physics right now!"
and i've been mugging hard, so really wish my Science can get better.
I'm willing to develop a passion for Science, just like running.

Thursday's Running was awesome.
Running 2.4KM and doing mini circuit training.
I'm fallin' deeper into a state of running-xation. new word huh!
Yup. I enjoyed every running session.
Today was last session with Mr Peh.
He is going to further his studies.
Will only see him in November.
He always says he is spiritually with us.
Really thank him for training with us for the Standard Chartered 10KM.

That day i was chatting with Yi Hao.
I really in daze.
My recording session dream was thrown apart.
I did'nt know what the hell was happening.

Last tuesday i was there for Literature project.

I will never stop running.

Jasper once msged me.
It was a few months ago.

I think so.
But i truely agreed with what he had said.
Love was all about sacrifices.
And I will be very patient.

I did a comparison between the both of us.
It was quite astronomical difference.

I got 24.5/35 for English Common Test.
I was quite happy.

Especially the self composed female duo.
I almost teared.
But it was generally positive.

Done a lot of thinking this few days.
After " Running All Trouble Away" on Tuesday.
It was the FIRST TRAINING for my STANDARD CHARTERED 10KM Run.
Yesterday I decided to prioritize what i need to do.
Something related to Yi An, Edmund and Ryan's Stage.
I should develop my fullest potential and start a deep passion on Running.
Cause the only thing i can think of that she may be interested in is Running.
So it may be a good choice and a good start.
Make both of us fall in love through running.
Does it make sense?
Brrr....
Beating JAMES NG on the 10KM Run is also my goal.

My Common Test results were just so under performing.
Science was one of them.
So i had to find A SOLUTION on what to improve my Science.
I used the wrong FORMULAS for the last few questions.
But never mind.
I WILL TRY MY VERY BEST TO PULL EVRYTHING BACK IN PLACE,
MAKING EVERYTHING AOK.
Design and Technology was alos a suject i didnt expect to fare so badly.
Others were at 40 plus or at least near 40 plus.
i was at 34/50.
Chinese was ok.

I couldn't believe that i was chosen among 40 pupils in 2D.

today was oral.
the picture discussion was about peranakan culture.
a family photo of a mum dad and child.
it is very difficult although i had 10mins of time.
as there is nothing much to say.
although i had covered all OPEC points,
my points were brief and lack of detail.

so today was a very busy day.
encounted so many problems in communication.
first was during the discussion in class about the teachers day video tribute.
second was when my class mates, ryan sean and lishan was sending the files to me.
today was terrible. mrs ng just crapped and wasted our time in the afternoon.
i was also cannot overcome my stage fright experience.
lets see.

Today we had napha 2.4km run.
i came in 3rd at 10.40mins.
my stomach started to ache at the 7th min on the 3rd round.
and so jun quan and hing jin past by me.
but the gap between 3rd and 4th (kai chun was very broad)
so i maintained my lead and came in 3rd.
guo dong came in 11th.
edmund 15th.
wee joon 6th.
shimin 5th.
awesome perfromance of our class i must say.
n ot forgetting i used HER as an inspiration to continue running.
but damn stomchache.
also cannot forget wee kiat's Spiderman underwear.

yesterday was a happy day.
especially in the afternoon.
at around 5plus.
wont elaborate further though.

so today after school i stayed back to 3 plus with wee joon.
just dun feel like going home,
so of course i stayed in school la.
so at 2.30 plus Edmund and Daryl of ncc went to change into their apparel.
then wee joon went to wear Daryl's NCC pants.
so damn funny man wee joon.
so random loh.
I ADMIRE THE UNIFORM AND TEAMWORK OF NCC.

so i was bored at time lookin at them chan ging.

i saw people in turf club, Fencing and of course Volleyball.
then i saw fencing,
very interesting CCA i must say.

i also got a little emotional.

today and yesterday was horrendous i tell you.
napha test plus the shock loss of my D&T Mechanisms task
as well as a very painful back ache.
let me tell you why.

yesterday was napha test.
i cannot say i do very well.
neither i can say i did not well.
ok. i just say its average.
sit up caused the freakin backache i'm havin now man.
40 sit ups.
34.5cm sit and reach.
10.2s shuttle run ( i could hav done much better, but people cheated by changing shoes, please understand we dont have the privelege to have run- friendly shoes)
29 inclined pull ups.
202cm standing broad jump.
if 2.4km on friday goes well,
i qualify for a silver.
compared to last year's bronze,
but i could do much better.

then today i went to hougang mall to buy earphones.
but i left my Mechanisms D&T work there!
but lucky i called up popular in time
and thanks to adamant who help me pick up the bag.
i heaved a sigh of relief leh
i thougt my work just went down to waste.

This week was alright.
but The tests were very difficult.
Maths i was like struggling to find a solution to question 2.
i dont know how to find the slant heoght.
while summary was just a mess.
i didnt understand what the hell the passage about.

Just finished D & T's mechanisms homework.
have to make linkages.
so i did the idea of car windscreen wipers.
and the result was not bad.
a least it looked presentable.

the whole week just flew by like this.
friday i was like quite high.
but i just coludnt forget one phrase that wee joon said about someonw from sec 1
" i just joined ncc caused i wannna build up myself"
he is the sec 1 guy from ncc that always goes up to stage for prizes.
the short short malay guy.
ya.
then in the morning i was walking with edmund.
i think i should stop doing that liao.
cuz its just so childish and out of brains.

Thrusday i was messaging Rdmund.
he gave me so much advice (:
about the msn chat that i did not know what to do.
cuz i really dont understand what's she saying.
maybe edmund was really right.
i tried to do so.
but something is pulling me behind.

This started off very crappily.
but started to run for the better strting wednesday.
when i received my maths test result for pythagoras theorem!
i got 24/25.
for the first time since sec 1.
this shows detrmination is the key to success.
i practised so hard and even bet with my mum that my test will be promising.
and its was.
I will work extra extra hard for mensuration test on tuesday!

Then yesterday i crossed the 2.4km line during pe
at 11.07minutes.
very proud of myself.
cuz i believed i can do it.
althouhg guo pang seied me at 2nd round.
when he is running so ahead of the others.
he was #2 for first two rounds.
but he just gave up.
never mind.
he has potential

Last Saturday(4/7/09) got myself a new desktop at Courts Megastore
It runs on Intel Atom though.
Cuz i dun game and dun multitask so much,

This week was awesome.

Yup.
Edmund noticed i was in very bad mood after recess today.
I wasnt very happy with my mum i must say.
But i wont say why though.
Then ryan showed us attitude before going to yian's house.
we were like walking towards Khatib to take SCC shuttle bus,
we just missed crssing the road with him to buy ice cream.
But later we catched up.
He didnt offer any apology,
but simply say he wanted to go home.
I and Edmund was like very angry with him.
I knew edmund was very pissed off.
Me too actually,
but i just didnt show it.

PE Today was running 3 rounds.
Junquan cliamed i cheated by taking a ledge short cut.
But if he wasnt there to bump into me at the crucial turn,
i wouldn't have lept up the ledge.
You have to have sportsmanship,
if you dont have the power to overtake, please shut your craps.
I Gotta do well for napha!
I came in 2nd in the running.
Just need a bit more practice to overtake Hong Jin.

Yesterday school reopened.
Saw the friends i missed loh.
Was quite happy la.
Cuz miss a lot of friends de laughter la (ryan), craps la(sean),

so many la jiu correct la hor?

Today was the chinese project presentation.
yian was like he never did hmework to find hanyupinyin loh.
the Media Camp i learnt a few tactics to apply on my presentaion loh.
yelaoshi also say my powerpoint very nice and impactful.
wow. very nice working with ryan edmund.
not so for yian though. no la, he ok.
the presentation ok la, but i rushed through the whole thing.
the Zuo Ze part was an entire pile of mess.
but never miind la.
cuz its over liao.

Finished at least 50% of Maths Tutor.

Today i went to Lishan's house for Project Fireflies.
My whole group was slacking.
It may sound wonderefully packaged with lishan ans shimin and wee joon.
But its not.
Shimin was hooked on PSP.
Junquan was just unwilling to cooperate.
Lishan and WeeJoon were just playing around with Donkey and Stress.

Just for the sake of Jasper.
I posted today and showed more posts on my blog.
Past 3 days i was involved in the Singapore Youth Media Camp 2009 at Ngee Ann Poly.
Every morning i had to wake up to take MRT and other members and transfer to bus at Clementi.
Jasper was called Mighty Mouse by the lecturer.
Haha.
Day 1 was Filming Workshop with MRr "Mighty Elephant" and Media Violence seminar. It was kindof fun cuz the instructor for the Filming workshop was damn funny.
Day 2 was Radio workshop and seminar for Advertising Messages. I enjoyed radio tremendously under the guidance and patience of ex-dj Jason. it was so fun to be on air.
Day 3 which was today, was seminar plus seminar. Ending de shi hou i very emotional. Cuz i wan the camp to be longer mah. And also Sorry Amos for speaking harshly on the MRT. I was just shooting out my mouth.
Juz now messaged amos for apology.
but from 7.34pm till 10.34 now, i didnt get reply.
Really Sorry.

I plan to be a radio dj when i go up.
I mean its so inspiring to know that people are hearing you on air.
You are cheering people on the airwaves.
In the Car, MRT, or home.
I thinking if i wanna take Maass Communication when i go Ngee Ann Poly.
And invade the airwaves.

After speaking so harshly on the mrt.

Class Outing.

When i was doing my maths tutor last friday or thursday ba,
Lishan msged me that there was a class outing on 20th Oct.
Towards Sentosa.
I was doubtful about going.
But i felt sure that i would be free that day and everything will go ok to sean's idea.
monday or tuesday, i dunno when la,
Ryan phoned me and said if i can stay overnight.
Cuz they changed location to OCC. i was at SCC daiso btw.
Then thursday i received smses from wee joon,
he asked me if i was going.
he wasnt too.
i also asked sean who exactly were the organisers.
the organisers only planned the location because they liked it. they didnt care about what other classmates view.
Sean and Aneka's ideas are quite nice though.
Sometimes i get used to be rejected for outings.
you know, thats why i turn down without askin her.
Beacause i know its a no.
Ah well.

Wednesday Met Edmund at 9.31am at Sembawang.
Then went to Yian's house.
Its was BAG i tell you.
Big Awesome Gorgeous.
I envy his big house.
So neat and tidy.

The piano openings of this song is just terrific, the way he screams in this song is pitch ok. You will feel damn emo when you listen to it. the drum beats un the background. Awesome.

Yesterday i went to Singapore Expo.
At there was John Little and Popular Bookstore.
So i bought Maths Tutor 2 @ $13 bucks down from $16.80 hehe. i know expo got discount wan.
Then I bought a few jerseys and jeans from John Little.
Spent almost 6hours there.
But it was all worth it man.
I got products at cheaper prices.
But i settled dinner at Tampines Interchange foodcourt.
The MixedVegetable Rice suxed like hell.

For those who saw my Facebook Status would know.
I got emotional+emotional+emotional as days when by.
I started plucking my hair.
And got scolded by Dad.
Dad said i was trying to attract attention .
But he was absouluty wrong.

I was bothered by many should-not-think-of problems like:
What happened if my Celeron computer broke down?
What if my house collapsed?
What if my friends hate me?
What if when i go back after June Holidays and everyone was so tall and i'm still so short? relax
What if my hair is permantely damaged?
What if???
I getting more and more 不乐观.
Sigh.

Today i finished Mid Year Revision Paper 1 on Maths Tutor 1.
Very tiring.
There was no one at home today.
Cause Mum and Sister were going to museum for a school assignment.
I was left at home to do my work and go emo.

Holidays and Akon's Be With You

June Holidays are here.
from now till 29th June.
Its about a month or so.
And i seem to be so bored.
With nothing much to do,
except the 2 projects.
Then i thought about how busy others will be.
Courses, Tutions, Outing with friends, Movies, Travelling to other countries,
they i thought again,
they have damn busy CCAs.
camps, trainings, practices, competitions....
i swerved back to my CCA.
Infocomm Club.
I started to hate it, for having nothing happening during the June Holidays.
I overheared someone from 2E that day saying, " You see they all infocomm, so slack, nothing to do during holidays, very shameful, over ____b_at cca better"
That made me reflect if i should have chosen CCAs because of friendship or interests.
Ah well, i guess that that's life.

Today i finished Revision Exercise 2 on My Maths Tutor.
It was instructed by Mrs Ng.
Cause i fell 3.1 short of the target msg for Maths.
I almost finished 1/2 of every chapter done.
That made me work extra extra hard for Maths to aim for 90 and above for CA2.
To make up for the 59/100 i got for MYE.
Also remined me of mrs ng's octopus.
Last weekend was so damn boring.
I didnt accomplish anything,

Kindof surprised that Akon didnt feature anyone for this single. Usually, he would, like previously, for Beautiful, he featured Colby O Donis and Kardianal Offishall. This is a slow love song, taken of Akon's Freedom album.

The song tries hard to mimick the slow emo pop sounds of NeYo's Mad and Miss Independant. But this time, Akon does it spot on and it will be a sure hit on Singapore's Radio Charts. Akon makes this song half emo and half pop. While its a sure great effort by Akon. The lyrics are very rhythamic, the beats are perfect, and the song sounds very nice. Good Job to Akon on his attempt to make the song immersed in a love mood.

I'm Back.
Yesterday was Meet The Parents Session.
Mr Yip didnt say anything bad about me in front of my mum.
He didnt say my MP3 was confiscated countless times.
Neither did he said that My 6300 was confiscated.
He siad i was well behaved, studies was steadily improving.
and My mum asked some HMT questions.
HOWEVER,
All the teachers commented that I was not focused in The Comment Sheet About Me.
Mdm Nora commented that I was focused, but sometimes distracted. Nice.
Mrs Ng and Mr Neo said i was not focused, results and work can improve.
Mrs Tan commented that i was unfocused, i kept talking to Wee Joon, likes to walk about in class, and lament when tasks are imposed. My Apologies. I will improve.
I ate Lishan's Nasi Lemak, and got isolated when those guys were playing UNO.

Today i wasnt happy.
Jia Xian and I had countless and Endless fights.
I was pissed off.
I was sitting with Edmund, Ryan, Sean and Xin Ting when Mdm Nur was showing Alivin and The Chipmunks. she's a purple teletubbies while i'm alvin. =p lame movie, noisy too.
I was very emotional that time.
It hapenned when they were talking about Dads and Family.
I have a complete family, but not a happy one.
My Dad treats me like a slave, mu mum and dad fights.
My Dad smashed my head and pulled my hair. The last time was 24th April'09
My Dad is a loser. He doesnt stand up to face challenges.
He suxs. Why must i have such a Dad?
That made my temper flare.
I suxed at Soccer when i played it on the field, i threw plates and spoons while eating Duck Rice at 795.
I was pissed but emotional. huh?

I bought Conditioner for My Hair today.
I'm determined to change it.
Repair and Fix it.
Haha.

Hellos. I'm Back.
The Last Time I Blogged Was April 10 ba.
Till now its about 1.5 months.
So Many Things Happen Between The Last Few Months.
There was the MYExams, History Field Trip, Soccer Matches plus,
Dismay + Agony.
I was so stressed out during this 1.5months.
But i found out that i cliqued very well with Ryan + Edmund.
They were cheerful, and its seems like they are my Gors like that.
They thought me how to be horny though.
=)

The Mid Year Exams were kind of tough for me.
I didnt fare well.
Especially In Maths.
" Shinan, you are not focused. You cannot acheive, You are like an octopus, not focused at all". Mrs Ng said.
Those words keeps on flashing in my mind.
Making me so regretful.
I scored 59/100 for Maths.
Thats a C5/6?
Dunno. But if that 59 + all those FAILED maths tests= Lower Marks.
But i did study.
I even sacrificed my Muttons Radio Show on 987fm,
which i will hear every weekday.
I dont Play DM, or Dota, Or "Poker", but my results are still...
oops.

In terms of Other Results, i was quite satisfied with History, 77/100
Art 90/100
English 67.5/80
Chinese Overall 65/100
Science 62/100
Those are based on exam papers, not overall.
Hiaz. If you give me a scale to rate my results,
4/10.

While, I've changed my BlogSkin to a Simple One.
I've thrown those chunks of words for a clean and streamlined interface.
With effect of tomorrow, i will introduce new Sections to My Blog:
- Shinan's Track Of The Week. - i recommend a track i love.
- Commentary!- i comment bout anything under the moon
- Shinan's Video Of The Week- i just recommend my favourite video.
- Geeky Gadgets- i recommend any tech goods.

i was at Iluma Shopping Centre
For DAVID ARCHULETA'S autograph session.
it really rocked out.
As a fan of Archuleta, i screamed and shouted.
My CD sleeve was signed and he performed 4 songs.
Mainly, Touch My Hand, A Little Too Not over You, A Thousand Miles (cover by Vannesa Carlton) and Crush.
so my female teen fans, i guess i am one of the rare male fans.

Last Week was another CRAPPY x infinity week.

I came in last for the Sports Heats.
#4. but i still qualified for the 400m finals
next thursday.
qualified by sheer luck.

i could have done better.
but i failed to sprint at the 300m mark.
i almost won wee joon at 200m mark and advance on the take on #2.

The vocals are perfectly sounding, it could have been better if the beats per minute song is upped and the Black Eye Peas sing with much more gusto.

the song has great room for improvement. but he effort is appreciated from Black Eye Peas. I will rate it a 3.5/5.

Comment:What can i say about this song? Its wonderful. The genre is classified as Modern Rock or Power Ballad. Check it out, this song is very emo. The lyrics says "Tell my mother, tell my father

Sometimes goodbye is a second chance" at the chorus. It is a significant and power packed chorus. Great for venting your anger when you are pissed off.

This song peaked at no 1 of the Hot Billboard Modern Rock Chart. The drum beats echo to the rough and massive lead singer, Brent Smith. The song reminds me of the Yellow Ribbon Project, where you give ex convicts a second chance. The song is quite similar to I Dont Care by Fall Out Boy slowened down if you take a listen to it.

Very nicely done song. I will rate it a 5/5.

This Week WAS EXTREMELY FUN!
we had workshops for 3 days.
and i really throughlly enjoy them.
Morning Session was tshirt printing.
i totally crapped in it.
my tshirt design suxed.
everything suxed.
i regretted joing the tshirt printing course.

afternoon session was Claymation.
had the great guys from Creative Bits coming in.
Ms Cas. taught us those skills.
and my group, ryan yi an yi hao and edmund
had great loads of fun and laughter.
our theme was Transport.
too bad i was teeribally under the weatherr.
lucky i can tahan.

on monday i would be attending a 3day course with ryan on sand animation.
from 9am to 3pm.

friday was debating course with Mr Khatij. ( he is funny)

We played vampire today.
about 11 people playing.
i was sway to be chosen as catcher.
in the end hong yi was sole survivor.
dumb ass i injured myself.

i would want to comment on this teacher in cchy that pissed me off today.
i was pissed over when she said" see, you all wasted time in attire check and now i have only 5mins to teach"
yes, i admit, we did waste time in an attire check.
but if she was in class at 11.10am sharp,
would this have happened?

she came in the class at 11.20am.
but at 11.17am, a sec 3 boy carrying her stuff walked in.
Chung Cheng enphasises us not to be late for school.
we get multiple detentions and scoldings for being late for school, even when we are in the school premises.
but why can this teacher be late for lesson?
if she had came in earlier,
at 11.10am,
time could be saved and we could have at least 15mins left for her to teach.
i'm not being rebellious here or making crude remarks and critising her.
but this is a fact.
Class 2D can be witnesses.

Teachers cannot blame students for things they are not at fault.
Attire is something students do wrong in.
but _____ has NO RIGHTS to say that we were to blame for the lack of time to teach.
this is rubbish.
there are even rumours of this teacher scolding" Blind and Death" to 2D.
is this true?
is this attitude from teachers to students acceptable?
we shall find out.

The lyrics itself are lovely. it goes at the chorus at "If that boy don't love you by now

Tell the DJ play this song right her" at the beggining. it adds a punch to this song, and adds a smile to your face.

this song peaked at #79 of the Billboard Hot 100 ( US Official Chart). i feel it is very suitable for those love bugs out there, or if you feel heartbroken, i shall reccommend this song to you.

i'm dead by the foul luck i'm experiencing during january and start of febuary.
i really have January Blues.
let me tell you the full story....

once upon a tiime,
last thursday,
29th january,
was a damn sway day.
in the morning, i forgot my towel when bathing.
then when i was walking to school, i realised i forgot to bring my earphones.
damn it.
during cloves 2 lesson, miss zarina said my face had fungus.
what the bleah.
then still comment i "du shu" sort.
fine.
i bear with it.

after recess was a totally stupid story.
i alomost risked wee kiat's prefect job.
i spoke to him askin him not to use phone behind the book.
ssway sway his phone confiscated.
but the problem is i also use phone during lesson,
but never get caught?!
so was i right or wrong to sabo him?

then i totally dont understand mrs ng's lesson
after school mum scold me play soccer.
